My kids(daughter and son in law) and wonderful grandkids just moved into their 1st home (owners!!!). I want a unique gift idea! I have never been able to buy a home myself, am on the poverty level, however want to give them an awesome housewarming gift. I am a gardener so they know I will do all that!!! i am also very craft oriented. I am taking to their new house enough supplies to make 4 stepping stones that they can put their paw prints(ha-ha) in or any special whatevers. Any ot5her unique yet inexpensive ideas? Thanks

Since you want a cool gift, I don't recommend a small appliance and so forth. Reed fragrance diffusers by Manhattan Diffusion are really cool and not expensive. The lavender is great, the triple red is great too. What I like about them is they are not overpowering so they won't offend guys or make it hard on people with allergies. They last for about 6 months! And they look really cool, especially under a lamp where they catch the light. Good luck!

Believe it or not, I wanted two things and never got either of them. One was a garbage disposal (and now I keep having to unclog the drain... however, that is a bit more expensive than what you'd probably want to buy and might be already in there!) and the other one was a fire extinguisher. The fire extinguisher would have been nice because it's a safety thing and also would have saved us a little bit on our home insurance if we had one when they asked. (They're not all that expensive either!!)
So... my idea is to get them a fire extinguisher. Tell them so that they'll stay safe and also save a bit on their house insurance.

If the Grand-kids are small, make them a 6 foot "Yardstick" made out of single strips of "Lattace" that can be found at any lumber yard or home improvement store, to put in a closet door frame to mark the height of each child as they grow. Decorate it as needed and don't forget to include the measurement marks! (inches down to 1/4 inches the entire length)
