well, I dont have the degrees that rod has but I have learned over the past 2 years that dovtors dont know as much as they would have us believe about allergies. My duaghters allergist told me her symptoms had NOTHING to do with allergies - she was having nausea, diahreaa, and autoimmune reactions to certain foods, when we took her off of hte offending foods - she was fine- she did not have a flu or stomach bug as we were told. If she eats those foods even today after 2 years off of them, she will get headaches, nausea, and sickness.
She may have an intolerance- does she have any reactions to anything else she has eaten or consumed? I know that bear has gluten but if she is not reacting to any other gluten products then it may be something else, generally wine does not have gluten but I dont know if that is the case if it is flavored- your first answerer is most likely to be correct- if she goes for allergy testing make sure they test her for allergies AND intolerances- she needs to heck for an IGA AND IGG reaction- it is important- intolerances can be more harmful than allergies sometimes if left unchecked.
I have earaches with my allergic symptoms also so the dr. above has not gotten his allergic reaction updates yet.

Ear pain and nausea with vomiting are not typical allergic reactions. Also, the ingestion of alcohol may not be related to her symptoms. To further confuse the picture, the ear pain may not be related to the vomiting. I would give her supportive care rather than treat a specific disease. If she has viral infection (flu) she will get better with time. If symptoms change, you may have a better idea of what is wrong with her. Try to make sure she keeps up with fluid losses. Have her drink fluids and treat fevers and pain with tylenol as directed. See the link below for more information about the flu.

I'm a physician. If her doctor is not available, do not feel that she needs to go without. There's always the ER. Good luck.

I guess that your mother becomes ill from the sulphates in the wine. In cheaper wines one use too much sulphates to stop the fermentation as fast as possible. You see time is money, but the one who drinks the poor wine might be ill. There have been glycol in Italian wines as well as in wine from Austria. Try better wine like Rioja wine or Trapiche wine.
To be sure, just drink beer made accordingly to the German laws from 1516 or something like that - pure beer without any additional fakes.
There could also be that she should give up drinking once and for all as there might be something wrong with her liver.

It sounds as though your mother is sensative to Sulfates. She needs to pick wines with little or no sulfates by reading labels. Beer also has sulfates.
An allergist could tell her more
