Once I asked a question that specifically mentioned in the details that it was about Hercules and had someone say that "Mary was more likely a Levite" -- indicating that they had not read the details completely....

I do not think that Mormons are "evil and cultish". I just do not follow Mormon beliefs....

I must agree with you, but I offer a reply also to Trooth's comments.

The Bible is not contradictory to the Book of Mormon and vice-versa. The Book of Mormon mentions the importance of the Bible to all followers of Christ, and except for passages of Isaiah that are correctly translated, the Book of Mormon is about several civilizations on the American continent--not about the people in and around Jerusalem.

The Book of Mormon is intended and was written for our generations; to convince Jew and Gentile of the divinity of Jesus Christ and provide another testament of Him.

The language in the Book of Mormon is slightly different than what is held in the Bible, but the Lord saw fit that the translations provided by Joseph Smith, Jr., was similar to biblical reading because Christians at the time were most familiar with the way the Bible reads.

Your barely touching the surface at reading the Book of Mormon is evident because you have not read it with purpose and sincerity yet. Don't fall prey to what so many dissidents and disbelievers have to say about the LDS faith; search it out for yourself and make your own decision--not basing it on what others tell you.

Evil? No.

The main premise of what the LDS church teaches is wrong, though. The claim that Mormons believe the Bible is contradictory, since many beliefs are contradictory to the Bible. What the book of Mormon teaches (I have had some opportunity to read a bit of it) is often confusing and has nothing to do with Biblical teachings. There is so much added which has no historical, scientific or Biblical value, support or proof, that the term "cult", fits.

I am sure that you, like many Mormons, are a decent person. But, I am afraid you have been deceived by the rantings of Joseph Smith, who was in no way a prophet.

I once asked atheists a question about a touchy subject. Even though I stated my position (clearly, I thought), I was still treated as if I had presented the opposite view by some of the answerers. There were some knee-jerk reactions.

I'm an atheist, by the way.

Yes. Some people can just be so rude in their answers, especially if it is a political question.
