I asked a question for those that might want to know what mormons believe telling them that its a good day to find out since it is our general conference. There were a couple of sincere answerers. Most of them were just people there to tell me how wrong I was and how wrong my church was. What is the purpose of being so mean and spiteful over just a sincere regular question or offering of information?
Does it make people feel better to go out of there way to condemn others?

Well then corrosion clearly you arent one of those people that I am talking about, but why do you think people feel the need to answer and bash on a question that has no ill will in it or isnt trying to bash on anyone else?

many of the answers were about how mormons are in a cult, we are blindly lead away from the truth and that everyone should run away from mormons as fast as the can
Dont tell me that isnt rude or spiteful.
Being told that I am in a cult or that I am not a christian is personally offensive and there was no reason for anyone with those kind of answers to answer the question.

Did you even read the original question?
I asked if anyone wanted to know what mormons really believe and the details specified that I was just giving the heads up that our conference was today and if you cared to know from our own mouths you can check it out.
There was no reason for the majority of the answers to be rants and bashing on how wrong the mormons are. It didnt answer my question or even address it. It just went on to criticize mormons. Do you honestly believe that people that feel the need to answer a question in a way meant just to put another down when the question wasnt in any way rude or even controversial, that the person is being sincere or really had any good reason to answer this question? I just wanted to give people the heads up. Some people do actually care what others believe in. There was no reason why my question had to have a dozen responses on why mormons are wrong, in a cult or just plain evil.

Yes. I think that people online can afford to be that way on their computer but not in real life. So, people tend to be jerks and answer questions just to be mean spirited- that is humans for you!

Sometimes I think they don't ignore it because the desire the 2 points for answering the question, and there are some who feel the need to remind those who are in a different religion that they are going to go to hell for how they believe, and unless you do A, B, C you won't be saved. That's why I love the articles of Faith, especially number 11: We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.
Would that everyone else gave that same freedom. It must make someone feel better to condemn others because they don't believe similar.

The majority do in fact ignore questions that they have interest in, otherwise you would have thousands of answers to every question posted, which we all know doesn't happen.
Of course there are those that, as you stated, feel better going out of their way to condemn others. Like I've said before, as an answer to similar questions, we are anonymous here so people find it easier to express themselves, it's also free and above all it is fun!
It is the person that asks the question that has to ignore answers that are annoying, not the other way round.

I know what you mean.
I hate it when I see a question (mine or not) where someone has specified something they don't want to hear, and people say it anyway. For example, if someone asks a question about quitting smoking and someone replies 'smoking is bad, you should never have started' or whatever. However true what they're saying may be, it's pointless telling someone something they've been told a million times but just aren't interested in.
If you have the time to write, i'd love to know about general conference :) alittle bitof nothing @hotmail. co.uk :)

I'd suggest that if you don't wish to be subjected to criticism, you not ask questions in a forum such as this. When you ask a question in an open forum people are going to give you their opinions. You did ask, did you not?
So am I to assume that means you only want answers from people who agree with you or that you find appealing?
Aren't you yourself condemning others with this post? You're preaching about individuals who "can't just let something go and keep their mouths shut" and here you are displaying the exact same behavior as those whom you've condemned.**(Does it make people feel better to go out of there way to condemn others?)** Did you shut your mouth and let it go after you posted your original question?
I don't really know if being Mormon is a good thing or a bad thing. What I'm curious to know is whether or not YOU think being Morman is what makes you a HYPOCRITE!!
Here's an English lesson for you. You ASK a question if YOU need an answer. You don't ASK a question as a means to provide the REST of us with information you think WE need to know. Maybe the reason you got such a negative response is because you attempted to use a question to shove something down people's throats that they don't want to hear. This is eerily similar to the philosophy shared by the two IDIOTS beating on my door yesterday morning at 8 am. Oh....duh, my bad. They were MORMANS!!!! Sheesh.

LOL I ignored that question as well but the answer to this question is yes. Many many many people feel a lot better condemning others. They have for thousands of years. This actually happens more in religions ironicly enough. This is the internet. Dont ask the world if you dont want the world to answer...

Some people are know-it-alls and out to prove others are wrong and their way of thinking is right. I do think it makes them feel better to condemn others but they in turn are really showing their ignorance.
Asking questions opens the door to all kinds of answers, some that actually reply to the question, and others that fail to do so in a proper way.
Don't take it too personally. You can always thumbs down or report very offensive answers.
Kind Regards,
Granny

People insecure in their beliefs always condemn others. It's one thing to disagree, that is your right, but to not at least back up the disagreement with a semi intelligent response means you really don't know what you are talking about. It's the same with judgmental Christians who spout their beliefs and read the same book over and over, but never lift a finger in action to do good deeds and works. Some people just like attention, but not the good kind.

That's what I do. I ignore all questions about Muslims and Buddhists because I have no interest in either of those religions.
I agree with you. I wish you the best. Try to ignore those who are rude and unkind to you.

I have asked myself that question many times.
I suppose they just want the 2 points.
They wouldn't say those things to your face but this forum gives you a sense to air your hate or ignorance without being confronted physically.
