For instance, most would say that killing in self-defense is justifiable.
…but does this mean that ALL killing should be legalized?
Self-defense killing accounts for less than 5% of all killing in America.

Many would say that abortion in the case of incest, rape, or medical emergency is justifiable.
…but does this mean that ALL abortion should be legal?
Abortion after incest, rape, or medical emergency accounts for less than 5% of all abortions in America.

Should ALL killing be legalized then?

3700 abortions are performed every DAY in the U.S.
That is over 1.3 million every year.
95% of these are done purely as a means of birth control
Less than 5% are due to rape, incest, fetal abnormalities, or maternal health problems

That means 3500 abortions are done every DAY in the U.S. that the MAJORITY of Americans think should be illegal.

These are appalling FACTS.

Kent and others:
Don't misuderstand:
In the question above, I never referred to abortion as killing! (though, it is)
And abortion for ANY reason is legal up to 6 months.
And for certain reasons, it still legal up to 9 months (full term). That's why some women from Europe come to the U.S. for third trimester abortion (as it is not legal in their countries).

Look up ANY abortion statistics, and you will find the SAME unbiased information.

I love how you compare the murder of men, women, and childrenm to a doctor scraping cells from a woman's uterus into a waste basket.

A little irrational, are we?

This is a matter of opinion. Think a little and reflect.

If you were powerless and someone came on to you to kill you and right next to your left arm you saw a gun, wouldn't you reach out for it? And say you did but the attacker laughed and said "You won't dare touch me2" and still forced himself/herself on to you and you knew the only way out was to kill the person, would it be right or wrong? Would it just be another method of survival of the fittest?

As for the abortion thing, I'm not going to say anything. I don't have an opinion about aborting children. I would say in most cases it is immoral, but as for rape cases you have to understand what the mother is going through. Hopefully none of us go through the same trial, but if I did it would be a hard one to figure out (on whether I should or shouldn't and probably my answer would be that I shouldn't abort).

Even though I think abortion is wrong I think illegalising something like that would have a negative effect. Women who desperately want to abort would do it in illegal ways and therefore have dirty places for it to be done, as for self-defense, illegalising that would not only cause public outcry but it will probably mean all the predetors (who usually kill without caring that they'll go to jail) will have justice done whereas a law-abiding citizen who doesn't want to go to jail will have injustice.

I tried not to include my opinions but I sorta did towards the end sorry.

Man, you just aren't thinking. All you are doing is using a lot of statistical hyperbole to try to stir up a rant. All you really want to talk about is abortions, and you already have an ironclad opinion on THAT. Your statistics are suspect at best. Links to data? Oh, and I don't mean some website totally slanted to one perspective...let's have some objective data, please. You'll have to excuse me from your tirade.

No. I believe that site is very flawed. One cannot get an abortion at anytime through a nine month pregnancy just by asking. With that, I would think many of there other "statistics" are flawed.

I agree with you that abortion is absurd. Why kill an innocent baby, no matter what the Father did?

just because you define abortion as killing does not mean most people do. If I define male masturbation as genocide (purporting that every sperm is a human being), that does not make it so.

distorting definitions to create fictional majorities only reveal that you are unable to sustain your argument without resorting to dishonesty.
