wisdom

2 Chronicles 1:11
And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honour, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:

King Solomon Ask God For Wisdom. God Granted Him His Request and Blessed Him "Richly".

Solomon (check your spelling, by the way) asked for wisdom to rule the people God had given him charge of. For that, God gave him greater wisdom than any ruler and also blessed him financially.

However, Solomon's wisdom was not exercised when it came to his personal life. God gave him strict instruction not to mess with the pagan women, that idea did not last long for Solomon. He not only began quite a collection of wives, but most of them were not of God and he got dragged into their paganism.

Many still hold that Solomon was probably one of the greatest leaders in history, and that his income still exceeded some of the highest incomes in history, even to this day (proportionally speaking, of course).

An understanding heart.

1Ki 3:9 Give therefore thy servant an UNDERSTANDING HEART to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?

God granted him his request and blessed him how?

TroothBTold did a good job of summing up the story; is there a Godly lesson for us men in this story when it comes to choosing a wife?

I think so. Ungodly and beautiful women were the downfall of the smartest man who ever lived; and there is no shortage of them today.
MY WIFE is a Proverbs 31 woman; and it is MUCH easier to walk with God WITH her than WITHOUT a Godly woman. This was Eve's purpose and God's design.

Wisdom. It allowed Soloman to discern and judge, based upon what was in a person's heart, which he could understand through his wisdom.
