It's a fact that coincidences happen. Anyone who doesn't believe two events can align without a clear causal link is just stupid.
And I suppose you could say that everything happens for a reason, depending on your definition of reason. There is a cause for everything, but not necessarily a purpose.

Believe In Coincidence

Let's look at it this way; coincidence is that one in a lifetime happening, good, bad or otherwise. But if everything has a reason for happening, then it stands to again. Take the Holocaust and what Hitler did to the Jews, not to mention the world, was that coincidence or reason. The assassination of John F. Kennedy, was that coincidence or was there a reason behind it. And the current state of affairs in the United States foreign policy in Iraq, coincidence or reason.

That's a question that gets to the core of metaphysics. Is the universe nothing but atoms blindly following the laws of physics and completely indifferent to human religious beliefs? Or is the universe the product of some conscious mind--God's, perhaps?

I still haven't figured out that one. It's a very big question and I personally didn't find it in organized religion. I'm agnostic, so I may never have an answer for that question, either...

Somethings happen for a reason and somethings happen because of coincidence. The trick is knowing which is which.

Everything is math, including coincidences.

The next time you're waiting to checkout at the supermarket, think about the person behind you. Think of how many generations that person came from, survived to produce children, and somehow that person is right behind you right now! What are the odds of that perfect stranger being there?

It happens because of mathematics. Only humans talk about reasons.
There is cause and effect. Why and wherefore, that's a whole other situation.
