i tried to copy a mpeg movie to a single sided recordabale dvd-r but it wouldnt work i have a hp pavillion dv 8000 windows xp and i need some help on how to copy the file and wat kind of cd i need ( like if i download a movie wat type of cd can i put it on and i i need any programs) thanks for reading

K the type of dvd u use doesnt really matter there just formats. I would use a program called nero or convertxtodvd if you just have the file. If you have the disk you want to copy then use dvdshrink Its by far the best. Hope this helps

First, check to see that you have a DVD burner. Even though the drive says DVD, it may not have the burner. You are interchanging DVD with CD and they are totally different. You don't use cds to make a DVD.
