Today is our semiannual general conference. It is where church leaders and auxillary leaders speak before the entire church on a variety of subjects. Prophets and apostles of God, straight from their own mouths, give talks on what we believe. If you ever really wanted to know what mormons believe this is a very good way to find out.
I am not trying to push my religion on anyone, I just thought that if there was anyone out there that really wanted to know what we believed and what the prophets and apostles say to us mormons, today is a good opportunity to find out.
Many cable channels carry it or you can watch it online at lds.org.
No better way to know what a person believes then to hear it from their own leaders mouths.

I was just letting people know about it. If you dont want to know dont watch it. I dont really need any snide comments back.
Does it harm anyones faith to learn about another persons?

Why do people feel the need to answer with such contempt over general information?
There are several people on here that ask genuine questions abuot the mormon church. There are also plenty of people on here that say things about mormons that just arent true.
Couldnt you have just ignored this question if you didnt want the info????

What exactly do you think the leadership of the church is hiding from us members? The beliefs are laid out straight in front of us. All wards believe and learn the exact same things. It isnt organized like other sects. Our clergy are unpaid. Noone is getting rich individually off this church except maybe the building companies we contract to build our churches and temples, which arent church owned.
I dont know how you think the leadership is trying to deceive us. If you bothered to watch conference you will see they are just general talks on a variety of subjects like faith, service and gratitude. Every word coming from their mouths are what we believe and what they believe. What is the purpose of trying to hide our true beliefs?

I already do know, and I love this church with all my heart. I am watching conference already, and it is really good. I admire your strength to ask if people want to know, but I have come to the conclusion that people on here really just don't give a crap about what we believe. Oh well more truth for us!!!

With all due respect to your beliefs, dont they kind of hide the theology that might freak the average joe out?
I do though think its great you share your faith with others, for we are called to do this.

As much as you want to know what Jehovah Witnesses really believe !! Hear it from their own mouths ?? Don't slam the door in their J.W. faces, or pretend your not at home when they knock on your door.!
Take a lesson from your own words.
And NO I am not a witness. Just making a point.

My mum and sister were Mormons for a bit - lovely people, gave lots of help. However as I'm an atheist, the rest really does not mean much.

they also talked yesterday...and soon the talks will be on lds.org(somewhere on there)
But yeah, if you're afraid to ask a Mormon what they believe, just turn to channel 374(on direct TV) for BYU channel at 4 o clock.
---------
PERFECT EXAMPLE of someone who "knows" what we believe....the guy who said he'll stick with Jesus and not Joe Smith...that he'll stick with God and not a man...GOSH!

I think the way it generally works is that the people who want to know actually look for information (which isn't hard to find) - so you're addressing the people who don't.

Yes, I would actually want to know more about Mormons. I do not think they are Christians and I would like to know why they believe they believe.

i had a mormon friend when i was little. i understand the religion well enough.like most sects of christianity, its virtually identical to catholicism and protestantism in every way that matters. they threw in a few extra books, a couple extra profits. but all in all its saying the same thing as every relgiion on earth. be nice, dont have sex with everyone you see, dont be a douchebag and youl be rewarded after your death.

"No better way to know what a person believes then to hear it from their own leaders mouths"
I'm not trying to be rude, perhaps I'm cynical, but I think this statement couldn't be further from the truth. Leaders manipulate and change things to the benefit of their organization.
