Hello! 4 years ago my cat had the same issue. I took him to the vet and he gave me some topical medicine to put on his eye. It seemed to be a pretty routine thing. He also told me it was time for his vaccines, so I went ahead with them and within 24 hours my cats eye was black. What first appeared as a swollen watery eye became a corneal ulcer and then that became a corneal sequestrum. After thousands of dollars in vet bills and a whole lot of research later, I found the best medicine: Lysine, Vitamin A and a product called Transfer Factor. I am proud to say that his eye is clear and healthy with thanks to these! If I were you, post-pone the vet appointment one week and try giving her 500 mg of Lysine and vitamin A. See what happens! I take 2 spoons and crush the lysine and mix a little water and administer orally. Then I take the vit A and puncture a little hole and squeeze it into his mouth. You would not believe the results! Good luck!!

I just took my kitten to the vet for the same thing. Your cat more than likely has conjunctivities. My vet gave me some ointment to rub on his eyes 3 times a day. You'll probably be given the same thing. As far as I know, humans can't catch it from cats.

Gave a thumbs up to Willow's answer.
That'll give temporary relief.
But you do need an antibiotic ointment for the eye if IN FACT it is an eye infection (aka Pink Eye in humans)..

Could it be a foreign object in the eye?
If infected with conjunctivitis, it will spread to other eye.

NO you can't catch from a cat,.. just humans to humans.

You can not catch it but other cats can.....or it can spread to his other eye...you MUST give it drops and ointment from the vet...not too expensive for meds or office exam. If you wait too long the cat may need his eye surgically removed (which costs close to $1000) untreated he could become blind, it could also spread to other eye or even cause death because the infection may spread to the brain.

You are not going to catch it. She does need to see a vet and get medication.
