Cataract is a very vast and highly specialized field for ophthalmologist.
There is no specific prevention for cataract.
However in all cataract cases where the cause is known, removal / treatment of the cause may prevent or delay the formation of cataract or development of complications associated with it to some extent only.
Timely operation under expert treatment can restore vision of a cataract patient almost in full. Now a days very advanced methods for cataract surgery are available like IOLs, Phacolysis etc.
However After cataract extraction, removal or treatment of the underlying cause is to be constantly attended to as usual, to avoid post operative complications.
