The first answer from KATIE K sounds like good advice---rotate heat & ice and no more then 20 min max on both. Have you talked to your Chiropractor about this? We used to treat that in the office I worked in. Ultasound treatments used to help some---it's takes out the inflamation. If the Vicodin isn't working---Send it to me :-)

Yep. I have tendinitis and carpal tunnel in both hands. When it flares up I do exactly what you do. Ice pack and a brace. One other thing I do is alternate between the ice and heat. Ice it for about 10 minutes wait 5 minutes and then heat for 10 minutes. I was advised by my doctor that I will need surgery but with work and such it isn't going to happen any time soon so I went out and also bought me one of those paraffin (wax) baths. They use these in physical therapy treatments. So you dip your hand in it to about half way up your fore arm and wrap it in plastic wrap (loose but to cover the wax) then wrap it in a towel. Leave on until you notice that it is starting to cool, unwrap and peel the paraffin off and put it back in the bath. Read your instructions before you do that though. Some of them you can reuse the paraffin and others they don't recommend it. Continue with the vicodin for the pain until you get to the specialist. Then let them know that it isn't really helping much is there something else that you could use.

My friend who assembles wireless sets had a similar problem some thirty year ago. He was approaching 50 then. One day while doing his work with that panful hand some radio station started and the waves started coming in on the air. He suddenly felt a strange relief and kept at assembling despite the pain. It progressively went on diminishing and disappeared.
It never returned.
My friend is not a practising or even an amateur doctor. He was apprehensive that the pain would retuned as suddenly as it had come on but it never did.He could not afford detailed medical check--up and so did not go in for it.
He never suffered again. He passed on his experiennce to fiends. One of his friends who had rheumatic knees and could not sit down could do it with a single exposure to the radio waves. Howeve , as he did not keep up the treament, even if the relief did not go aw ay it did not proress further despite repeaed treatmnt after a long lapse of time.
the news of sudden miraculous relief had apppeared in local people then, around last 70s.
Hope it help you. In fact, do not I have a nervous feeling that this old age pain is coming on since you have assumed the avtar Granny. If I remember well either you had asked for advice for changing the profile or you had recommended such a question and I had advised to desist from this plant as you were going long fine in the present make up..Really one must act his/her age.

Are you sure this is carpel tunnel? what makes you sure?
If your not, consider this, a symptom of a heart problem, maybe your starting to get a heart problem, if so, I wouldn't wait for two weeks, you might not make it. I almost didn't.
It takes by a few moments to go to an ER and have them check out your heart so we can keep talking to you, huh! how about it, Granny?
There's another problem it could be, your upper spine. The nerves to your vertebrae go to your hands and fingers from here. The pain you could be experiencing could be from here. Have you ever had any problems in this area? try ice packs along the middle of this area of your spine and see if this helps.
I hope you take my advice, keep the points, take the advice.

Well if you aren't resting it on the stove when it is on, I would go to emergency and tell them your symptoms before it gets worse. Don't wait for the two weeks to pass, this could be something serious. When you get older serious is hard to take as it was when we were younger. I would appreciate it if you found out sooner rather than later. I need you to be around for me and some of the others would like you to be here too. I, WE, care what happens and don't need any more bad news. Check it out now, PLEASE.
