50 pounds of salt = 1600 tablespoons, so that would make it .000055 cents per tablespoon.

I just measured, there are approximately 14 ounces in 1 cup of salt. There are 16 tablespoons in one cup. So now if you do your math, there are 16 oz in a pound and you have 50 pounds, you can get the total ounces in your bag of salt, then divide it by 14 for how many cups you have and then divide it by your 16 tablespoons. That should give you your answer for how much salt you are looking at. Then again take the number you got for how many total ounces you have and divide your tablespoon amount by the total ounces. That will give you the percentage that one tablespoon is of your 50 pounds. Then multiply that percentage times your $4.40 and you will have your answer.

Hope that helps.

I got a different answer than "Proud to be 51" got but I'm sure if I went by the standard 8 oz in a cup, it might have worked the same. Instead, I weighed the salt and one cup didn't equal 8 ounces.

Not strictly mathmatics here guy.
Using sugar as the dry measure from Culinary Arts Institute Encyclopedia of Cooking the closest measurements to salt granules would be regular white sugar. This is with SUGAR as the measurement.
a standard measure :
16 oz (dry) = 1 lb = 2cups
Granular is 2 1/4 cups=1lb. (regular white sugar)
4 TBLS = 1/4 c (again for white sugar)
36 TBLS= 2 1/4 c =1lb (sugar)
This should arm u with enough info to do the rest of the math for the cost of the 1 tablespoon of salt you desire to find out.

Well curiosity got the best of us........your total cost per tablespoon is actually ****
*** $.0024 cents......or 1/4 cent per the tablespoon.
Remember, granular measures differently than standard dry measurements. At least per the experts at the Culinary Arts Institute. The rest is just the math.
