When you get your tongue pierced, it is pierced with a piece of jewelry that's about 1 1/2 inches in length, it sounds long, but when your tongue is in your mouth the bar sits at an angle. So the long jewelry may make you sound funny, but the extra length is to accomidate swelling. Within a few hours it's no uncommon for your tongue to be at least twice it's normal size. After a week, you may go in to your piercing shop and get the jewelry switched out for a fitted bar. Once you have switched jewelry, and swelling goes down, your speech should return to normal.

like everyone else said, only for the first day or two, due to the swelling...
some people do have a harder time rolling their tongues after it's been pierced, so if you speak spanish then you may have some difficulty, but maybe not, too!

many people do, especially at first because the tongue is swolen but if you concentrate on your speech it is possible to not speak differently. when i got mine pierced (years and years ago) i made sure to speak the same.

When my boyfriend got his done, he talked weird for like a day, because of the swelling but that was about it.. After the swelling goes down you are fine.. And whatever you do, be very careful when you eat because if you bite down on the ring, it will hurt.

Just for the first day or two while it is swollen, after that you sound exactly as you did before.
