I hate bare feet, or just walking around in bare feet or just socks. At my dad's house, he made up the rule we have to take off our shoes before entering the house. I hate doing this, it feels so awkward and uncomfortable. My feet get really cold, and my toes curl up, and it hurts. How can I convince my dad to get rid of this rule. The only reason he has it is to keep the house cleaner, but he walks around outside with bare feet, so wouldn't that get the house dirty anyway?

Just tell your dad about your discomforts and he will probably have a solution like tell you to wear socks or a pair of slippers which are only worn inside the house! It's no big deal really!!!

Keep a pair of slippers in his hall closet just for your use or bring them with you.
After all, his house/his rules. I hate bare feet in the winter in a house and I have to say that when I get dressed up for a holiday party and go to someone's house where I'm compelled to go shoeless, it makes me upset.
For everyday visits to your dad's house, though, humor him with slippers.

Keep a pair of slippers at his house. End of bare feet and socks.

It's a good rule. You may be uncomfortable but it is the house rule and you must obey it. Wear socks.
Grow up and have a house of your own. THEN you can make your own rules. You can tell your dad then to keep his shoes on because your floor is extremely dirty.

I like the no shoes rule myself. Keep a pair or slippers or socks by the door and wear them only in the house.
FYI, bare feet don't trap dirt and grit like the soles of shoes.

It is your dad's home. You should respect that. Why don't you keep a special pair of slippers there? It would be something everyone might start doing. I have a friend, who has a lovely, immaculate marble flooring throughout his home. He actually has two dozen imported, fancy oriental slippers in a closet near the entry. The slippers range from the smallest to largest man size. We just laugh and put on the comfy slippers. His home...his rules...

I don't understand people who ask you to remove your shoes when you enter their home -- I usually refuse. However, because you want to be respectful in your father's home, just bring a pair of slippers with you when you visit.

Try telling him that your feet get really cold and your toes curl up and it hurts.

I wouldn't see a problem unless your shoes were dirty. If it's that big of a deal to you, how about buying a pair of slip on shoes, that you only wear inside?

You can bring with you your own pair of booties or house shoes that haven't been worn outside. I don't think he'd object to those.
