It's easy, it's free but it takes some work. Go outside and get some exercise. They've recently had quite a few articles saying that exercise is as good a cure for depression as most of the medications available. I guess its those endorphins...

Ive read that 98% of all cases of depression are due to low magnesium count in the body.
Having suffered with depression for some time, I tried an over the counter magnesium supplement (Nature Made brand) and have not had a case of depression since.
the benefits are;
1) No side affects
2) Over the counter, does not require doctor's prescription
3) Also includes zinc, calcium and many other vitamins that can only help the performance of the body.
4) COST - you wont go broke or starve from not being able to afford your "medication"
5) O.D.ing from vitamins, while not impossible, is rarely documented as a cause of death (there have been no known cases of a magnesium supplement overdose resulting either in death or serious illness to my knowledge).
If this sounds positive to you, you have little to lose by trying this method for two - three weeks before seeking professional help.
If you are in immediate crisis however, I would suggest seeking professional help immediately.
I hope this helps you.
Good luck.

If you have true "clinical depression" .... Then you DO need
medical care. Telling us not to suggest that .... Is like you telling us that your car is OUT of GAS .... But you don't want anyone to suggest that you PUT GAS IN THE TANK!!!
Depression is serious .... And you need help. And nobody can help you without your "individual symptoms" being evaluated by a qualified professional.
Sometimes depression is cause by a chemical imbalance in
the brain .... Again .... that would require medical evaluation!
If your parents don't take you seriously .... Then please tell a
trusted adult family member .... teacher ... or counselor.
If it were THAT easy to get rid of depression .... Don't you
think that then EVERYBODY would be cured??? You can NOT expect people (on Yahoo Answers) that do NOT know you .... And most likely are NOT qualified to make a medical
diagnosis and give you a treatment plan!!! It does NOT
work that way.
Sounds like you are determined to get better .... So please
get yourself the help that you need!
Of course ... PRAYER DOES CHANGE THINGS!!!

how do u know that ur parents won't take u seriously? Have u ever tried talking to them in a serious manner about this? Anyway...if u don't think they will listen...i used to be depressed and heard that exercise really helped with it so i started working out daily and it really did help somewhat....It's because when u exercise ur body releases endorphins which are ur bodies "natural antidepressant." Try that...it might take some time before u notice any change just as it would take time with any pills but i would def give it a shot

There must be a reason for your depression. Some event or events that have added up to your mental state. What you need to do is watch something funny & remember life does not revolve around you & life goes on even if you are depressed. Lots of people drink & take drugs to get away from reality but its always there so get over yourself like most people.

I know the feeling, believe me.
Try some meditation or rigourous exercise (exercise releases endorphines and dopamine in your brain, both of which affect mood).
Something very cheap would be to try St. Johns Wort or Valerian Root (worked wonders for me).
You can also go to your local library and read some books on natural ways of getting over depression.
I mean, we all get depressed, but it's an issue when one is constantly in that state.
Look luck to you!

Honey, everyone feels depressed. You should not take pills, etc to feel better. Because, you will end up becoming addicting.
I agree with another poster. The only way is to pray. If you are religious. Because He is the only one who will help you out,.
If you arent really the religious type, try talking to a school conusler....no one has to know about that....even your parents!
Good luck, and please get better..you have a whole life to live! Dont live it feeling depressed, enjoy it!

Well if wishful thinking would change things the world would be perfect. However it takes action to affect change. You cannot change your problems by ignoring them you must seek help. You are seeking help by just asking the question? Why would you trust us to be able to help you but you won't trust a medically trained person (councellor, doctor, psychiatrist etc.)

If you are 14 years or older, you do not need your parents to get help for mental health.
Make an appointment and they will bill your parents health insurance.
As long as you take it seriously, you can and should get the help you need.
