The public transportation in the metropolitan Washington DC are is very good. Just type in the location of where you are staying and where you want to go. You can also use common names, i.e. White House, National Airport, BWI and the time you want to leave. It will give you the bus to catch, train to catch, change location and price.

There are several subway (Metro) stops in Arlington. They also have a lot of bus lines which will take you to the subway. Public transportation in Arlington is clean and safe. More than likely your hotel will be within walking distance of the subway if you are staying in Crystal City, Pentagon City, Ballston or Rosslyn. Great city, I hope you enjoy your time there.

The DC Metro has stations at Arlington Cemetery that will take you anywhere you want to go. Does the hotel have free shuttle to the Metro? Ask them - many do.

It depends on where in Arlington you are staying, but you can probably get a bus to Metro if you aren't in walking distance of a Metro station. Some hotels also have shuttle bus service to Metro stations if it isn't walkable.
