Odd Man on the Job, I'll have you know that I am a Teacher. Education is not this issue or the answer. God IS!

It seems the more I pray the more I grow and learn about God and His ways. You are doing the right thing by wanting more, He will reward you.

Lotta good answers, some junk mixed in. In order to truly understand the scriptures, you need to know the history of it all, and that starts with Genesis. Start there and read to the beginning of Revelation, and you will have a good idea of what went down and why things were done the way they were. Don't try to memorize the whole thing, but learn the events that led to or caused other events. Like crossing the Red Sea. Someone has now said he found out that Moses didn't cross the Red Sea, but the Dead sea, and at a time when the water was only a few inches deep. He contends that there was no miracle involved. Maybe so, but how much more of a miracle do you want. God drowned Pharaoh's entire army in ankle deep water. So who knows what mistakes history made, either was a miracle. About the 6th or 7th time through, you'll begin to understand some of what is being told to the point that you can start teaching others about it. Maybe sooner since you seem to be fairly well educated. God Bless You.

When you think you have it all down good, then study Revelation. It'll scare the pants off ya. I don't recommend it to novices in the word.

First, you have to realize just like I and every other christian has to realize is that we are all sinners and we cannot do this on our own. It is a fact you will sin, and sometimes more than once with the same sin, as long as you continue to ask forgiveness and truly strive to not commit the sins again and again, God will forgive you. This is part of the wonder of God's mercy, He gave his son so that we can come to him through his son to ask forgiveness of our sins. (Isnt that wonderful) I am currently being mentored by my Pastor so that I can take the youth group and many times I have asked myself the question, How can I be a youth minister when I sin almost daily? As I am finding I am also human and will sin. As I pray for forgiveness I also ask that God will assist me in not committing the same sins again. And here is some hope for you. God has done that with me many times I start to get into a position where I can sin or make a better choice not to, and I get what I call a nudge from God. Where I am more aware of the choice at hand and then I can choose not to do the sin. So with that keep strong and persistant in your prayers and also stay in God's word which will help dramatically. God Bless you and Keep you.

To become a Christian, you must first HEAR the Word, Romans 10:17; BELIEVE what you've heard, Romans 10:9-10, Hebrews 11:6; REPENT of your sins, Luke 13:3; CONFESS Christ to be the Son of God, Matthew 10:32; Be BAPTIZED for the remission of sins, Acts 2:38, 8:37. You are added to the church by God Himself, Acts 2:47, and then you must Be FAITHFUL unto death, Acts 2:42, Revelation 2:10.

You will become a member of the Church of Christ, and you must attend a New Converts class in order to become more knowledgeable about the Word of God. By reading and studying, you will become more diligent and focused in your walk with Christ.

Check out www.bible.ca; that site will give you a list of Churches of Christ in your local area. Hope this helped you.

To be a better Christian you must decrease and Jesus must increase. Get out of the way and let the Holy Spirit work.

Being more knowledgeable in the Word = Read it. Meditate on it.

More diligent and focused = Ask GOD for something to do in the ministry. Nothing will make us more complete then selfless ministry.

Have fun †

I can advise you, since I was raised Christian, but I MUST tell you something. Christ is not what the typical follower of him believes. I didn't know this until I was 17, that worship, simply means to love, that's all. Not to fall upon your knees and beg Him for forgiveness. Would your love friend want a slave, or a beggar? Christ already paid the PRICE for the wrongs humanity has committed! Why make him pay for it again by focusing on His death? Jesus Christ, said, I love you, many times. What more must He say to you, than that? Trust Him, love Him, and you WILL find Him. You don't need a book to love Christ, you just need faith, which is LOVE. He will NOT abandon you! I swear it!

Way of the Master helped me.

You can go to http://www.wayofthemaster.com/ these are techniques on how to tell others about Christ and also let you know that we all need Christ.

My husband and I read our bible and pray everyday before we leave the house. Praying is the Key, reading the Bible is your guide.

Its really reading the word and applying your life according to the word. my husband and I started in the book of Proverbs. Trust God believe and have Faith. Never give up no matter how bad you think it may look. Just a few days ago, our rent was due $1,156.67 we had $ -187.00 in the bank. the bill was due on the 1st. of October and we are normally given 4 days for extra time.Any time after that it was a extra 150.00. At 4pm on October 4th the account was still $-187.00 and I still was believing and trusting God that he was going to make a way for us. We didn't worry, our faith was in God.
So my husband came home from school the same night, on the 4th, I remember it was 10:45pm. I had told him that we recieve a letter on our door about the rent not being paid and we owed them 1,156.67 plus 150.00 for late fees. Then he ask if he got paid, and I told him no. And even if he did get paid we already knew his pay check wouldn't cover that cost of the rent. So we check the account around 11:30pm and saw that we had the money we need for our rent and we immediately paid our bill, and begin thanking God for being there for us. See God is never early, never late, but he is always on time. Trust God, Have Faith never give up on him

Precious - make yourself a little check list to help align your life. Ask yourself regularly - "How am I exhibiting "THIS" trait, or "THAT" trait...?" The Bible needs to remain your daily guide - your daily "food."

Begin by asking God each day:
"Lord, help me change MY mind about anything that You and I don't agree on."

The Check List Traits:

Galatains 5:22-23 But the Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control. There is no law against such things as these.

LOVE - being the first trait - remember how to check your life for that:

1st Corinthians 13:4-8a Love is patient and kind; it is not jealous or conceited or proud; love is not ill-mannered or selfish or irritable; love does not keep a record of wrongs; love is not happy with evil, but is happy with the truth. Love never gives up; and its faith, hope, and patience never fail. Love is eternal.

Holding your life up to the light of the Fruits of the Spirit is amazingly revealing. Having a real life prayer partner and mentor assists you with personal accountability... and strengthens your walk.

God bless!

Peace.

Ask the Lord for increased faith. Ask the Lord to increase your knowledge. We have not because we ask not. Whatever you want ask the Lord. Ask the Holy Spirit to keep you focused as you read the Word of God. Ask for an unbeliever to bring to know Christ. Ask for someone in a needy condition so you can help them.

We receive not, because we ask not. Keep asking until God gives you what you are asking. God wants us diligently seeking Him. In His presence, just be quiet and listen and let Him change you from glory to glory.

Pray for God's guidance, & find those who are following it very closely. Not everyone claiming to worship the Creator, actually is...

"... Let these be tested as to fitness first, then let them serve as ministers, as they are free from accusation.."
--1Timothy 3:8-10

"Certain men have slipped in who [are] ... proving false to our only Owner and Lord, Jesus Christ." -- Jude 4

"Make Sure of all things; hold fast to what is fine." --1Th 5:21

It does help to have someone with a deeper accurate understanding of God's word to ask, though.

"Two are better than one... For if one of them should fall, the other one can raise his partner up. But how will it be with just the one who falls when there is not another to raise him up?"--Ecc 4:9,10

All Christians are admonished to be an encouragement:

"...Let us consider one another to incite to love and fine works, not forsaking the gathering of ourselves together, ...., but encouraging one another, and all the more so as you behold the day drawing near." --Heb 10:24,25

However, nothing can take the place of personal, in-depth study of God's word:

" The Be·roe′ans were more noble-minded,
for they received the word with the greatest eagerness..., CAREFULLY EXAMINING the Scriptures DAILY
as to whether these things were so." --Acts 17:10,11

The articles listed below are designed to sharpen Christian thinking:
