It is obvious that anyone in a senior position, would not have tattoos or body piercings, esp any visible ones! How many of you with visible tattoos and piercings have got a decent job?
Especially one where the public are involved!

Up until recently I was the Head Teller at a Bank. Now I am working for a company in their corporate office, almost everyone i work with has visible tattoos (payroll, accounts payable/receivable, HR, and accounting departments.) We are all very professional and decent people. Customers and business professionals come into our office all the time, they don't seem to have a problem with it.

In January, I'm startimg a job in Disneyworld. I have 3 tattoos, a good sized scar of wings on my back. My piercings are going to be taken out for this job.
No, at this point I don't have a great job. However, I am in school full time so that I can get a better one when I leave.
Tattoos and piercings do not make a person work poorly. Tattoos and piercings do not make a person dirty or evil. All my managers have tattoos, some visible. Having a conch piercing doesn't make me mean or lazy.
I have high aspirations in life. I will achieve my goals and at the same time, I will modify my body. I want to open my own restaraunt. And when I do, I will hire those who modify.
Why do conservative pepole think that some one with a tattoo or piercing can't work?

I think this question and your comment of people with tattoos not having senior positions is very ignorant.

I can't really say that I have a decent job since I just graduated from university and have not yet established a career path for myself, however while in university I worked at a very large call centre for a very well-known and respected company making $15+/hour just to answer people's inbound questions. After the stress of that job got to me, I quit and now work as an office assistant for a small company. However, I do know people with tattoos who have excellent jobs, including someone who has full sleeves and is a lawyer.

It all depends on what you mean by "decent". Decent to one person may be sitting behind a desk answering phone calls, while to another it may be working at or owning a tattoo shop - in which case tattoos and piercings are more than common.

I've never had problems with jobs and having mods and none of my friends have had issues either and a good amount of them are med students, lawyers, engineers and computer geeks I have two jobs, one being a piercer and obviously no one cares there. But my other job is to be an office assistant for a marketing company and no one there minds that I look a little different. I make a combined $35,000. My man works at a computer programmer making $120,000+ a year and has visible tattoos on his arms and a piercing (a labret) and no one has ever said anything to him. I think there are a handful of people who are just lucky. Many of my friends have very good jobs and all they have to do it keep most mods covered but have equal and fair opportunities. I'm 20, he's 26, both have completed some college (him scheduled to get a few degrees by winter), we live in southeast Michigan

I work in the Human Resources Department as the Benefits Coordinator for a very large business where I live. I have about 12 tattoos and nipple piercings. Some of my tattoos are visible and some are not, but I am treated no differently because of the such and I have a very good job.

I work in a sales office for one of the largest mortgage lenders in the country, in a professional position. I interact with the public and make good money. I have only one visible tattoo (the others are hidden by work-appropriate clothing.) But there are others in my office with visible ink and a couple of women with pierced noses. In the city I work in this is not really that far out of the norm and modest body modification does not disqualify you from a good job.

I'm a debate judge and moon-lighting coach. I see lots of people all the time, and I go to suit-and-tie events pretty regularly. At least twice a week. I also intern as a reporter.

I have 8 piercings visable above the neck. My only visable tattoo would be on my calf when I wear a knee-length skirt (which I sometimes do).

But you know what? I am so damn good at what I do that it just doesn't matter.

Im studying to be a teacher and they said that any ear piercings are generally okay provided you have not gauged your ears to an insane size.

If you are worried about it, make sure it's a piercing that you can remove. I have my rook done, but it's a ***** to get an earring in there so i keep a tiny hoop in it. But the rest of my piercings are all in my lobes (ranging from the bottom to the middle of the ear) so I can take them out and not lose the piercing.

I know people who take out their tongue piercing once it has healed to the day and it doesn't close (i would check that though). If that's the case, then you can get that too. I'm not sure what else can be taken in and out.

Well i work at a company that has branches worldwide and i see tatoos on some of the people where i work. there's one girl with a.. dunno how to describe it but it looks like a barb-wire bracelet tattooo around her upper arm, another lady has one on her ankle you can see it when she wears dresses, and the head of my department has a tattoo on his arm i didnt even notice he had one until being there for a few months.. he got it in high school and now he's like 40-ish.. and some have tattoos on their shoulders, and i saw a girl that works in the factory part she has one on her lower back...
but most of the time their tats are not visible.. except for the girl with the barb wire tatoo on her arm (looks cute though..)
she wears short sleeved or sleeveless tops so i see hers all the time. i think just as long as its not visible, or if it is and its not HUGE then it shoudlnt be a problem.. just dont have piercings or tattoos on your face and too many in your ears.
I dot have tatoos so when i see someone thats showing at work, im like... gasp! HR doesn't say anything bout that? They dont tell them to "cover up".

Getting a "decent" job just depends on the person who is hiring. Everyone has different opinions on what they want their company or buisness to be represent by. Now it seems that more and more people are open to the fact that the person that is best suited for the job happens to have visible body modifications!
