My cat is 3 years old.
I have had her since she was about six weeks old.
She was spayed two years ago.
And never declawed.
This week she's been acting very weird.
Overall she's kind of a playful cat.
She occasionally scratches and bites.
But this week she's been acting very very mean and vicious.
Just walking by she'll hiss at you and try to bite you.
If you try to pet her she will try to hurt you.
Last weekend we were out of town for three days but
it has never made a difference before.
Could you tell me why she is all of a sudden so vicious??

when we were out of town she was home alone.
(of course with a sustainable amount of food and water)
but we have been away for longer than three days at a time and she seems just fine after that.

If she has a clean bill of health, it could be something that she smells on you. Were you around another cat last weekend? You may have inadvertently brought in the smell of another cat's pee on your shoes of your luggage.

Cats can become stressed at one thing - a stray cat outside, a dog outside, strange people they see from a window, a new scent, etc. - and redirect that stress towards something or someone totally uninvolved. They become aroused and then lash out. Something may also have happened to her while you were gone. Could she have been injured?

You may want to clean off your shoes, do the laundry and wipe off whatever luggage you took with you. I would inore her until she calms down and then play with her using some interactive toys.

A few things will make a cat change personality. Stress can do it. #1 Going out of town may have upset her routine, and stressed her. Once things get back to normal, she should calm down. #2- is there stray cats hanging around outside. An inside cat can react very violently when they smell or see outside cats around. #3- illnesses, if your cat is sick or in pain, this can manifest into different behaviors. If you think your cat may be sick, take her to the vet first and get their opinion.

A sudden change like this usually indicates illness and/or pain. I'd get her to the vet first thing in the morning.

When you went out of town who was watching the cat? She is obviously bitter. Make sure she knows that you are physically dominant(not by beating her) but also give her treats, love her and most importantly ignore her!!! She'll realize that loving is so much nicer.Sounds like we had the same cat.

Maybe its because she hasn't been getting enough attention or she isn't feeling well, try taking her to the vet.
