On one of my teeth it has a very slight chip at the top it has just chipped at the enamel i think. But when i touch the very top of the tooth with my nail i feel a sharp pain, this only happens when i have either had something hot or cold or sweet, what could this be? I am going to the dentist on fri but im a bit worried about it and also what sort of treatment would they do?

Don't worry too much, you are already seeing the dentist so He will cover that missing part with a toothcolored substance. The sensitivity is quite normal as the broken bit has exposed some of the sensitive part of your tooth that is called dentine, dentine always reacts to hot and cold. Just try to avoid having it around that tooth for the time being.

They can "build-up" the missing enamel with a special white material that will be made to match the rest of your tooth.

SINCE YOU ALREADY HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A DENTIST THAT'S GREAT. THE DENTIST WILL EITHER POLISH THE ROUGH PART AWAY OR ADD A LITTLE TOOTH COLORED FILLING FOR IT.

The best thing would be a composite filling.
