None. Catholics ARE Christians. There are three branches of Christianity:
1 Catholic
2 Protestant (includes 1000's of sub-denominations)
3 Eastern Orthodox
If you are a Christian, you are one of those. People who think otherwise delude themselves (and they are probably protestants).
Every Christian church is an offshoot of the Catholic Church. The Eastern Orthodox churches broke away from unity with the pope in 1054. The Protestant churches broke away and were established during the protestant revolt, which began in 1517. (Hence the name "protestant", from "protest". Most of today’s Protestant churches are actually offshoots of the original Protestant offshoots.)
Only the Catholic Church existed in the tenth century, in the fifth century, and in the first century, faithfully teaching the doctrines given by Christ to the apostles, omitting nothing. The line of popes can be traced back, in unbroken succession, to Peter himself. This is unequaled by any institution in history: Even the oldest government is new compared to the papacy. The Catholic Church has existed for nearly 2,000 years, despite constant opposition from the world. This is testimony to the Church’s divine origin: Any merely human organization would have collapsed long ago. The Catholic Church is today the most vigorous church in the world (and the largest, with a billion members: one sixth of the human race), and that is testimony not to the cleverness of the Church’s leaders, but to the protection of the Holy Spirit.

Not much, they both believe the same basic thing.
Roman Catholics, Catholicism, was the main Christian religion up until Martin Luther and others like him started disbanding from the Church changing little things here and there, then others disbanded from his, and so on and so forth.
Im Catholic, Ive had Protestants (any non Catholic Christian) say that we worship Mary or something like that which doesnt make any sense, we dont. We both beleive in God and worship him, we both beleive that Jesus is the son of God, and that God sent him down to save us. The only real difference is views on different matters, but in the big picture there pretty close to the same thing.

I'm not Catholic my self buti have had many friends that were............I believe there are many Christians in the Catholic religion.............why because they serve God with there heart.........but there are many Catholics that serve The priests and Mary more then God.............But i will say that there are many that serve the preacher or Pastor more then our creator and heavenly father in other denominations as well....................God's people are spread through out all Christian religions................if they serve Christ then they are Christians.............so that would mean that some in the Catholic Church are Christian just like in any other Christian Denominations..............You must understand that not all people follow all the teachings of the church denomination they go too,....they just stay at the Church on many occasions because they came to know God at that specific Church and that is hard to let go.......that's why it is so important to have a personal relationship with Christ because he will show you the difference between the HOLY and the profane......that way any falsness might be revieled.............we don't have a perfect church but those that worship in truth in spirit are the servent's of the living GOD!
Peace to you

First Catholics are Christians. I believe you want to know the difference between Catholics and Protestants.
There are several subtle differences, but then again their are several subtle differences among Protestant Denominations also. I would say the main differences between Catholic and Protestants are that Catholics believe the Pope is infallible (meaning he cannot make mistakes). They also believe that the Pope or Priest can hear your confessions and forgive your sins or give you Gods answer.
Protestants do not have a leader comparable to the Pope. They believe that all human beings are fallible and people should pray directly to God to ask forgiveness of sins.
Pastors, Ministers, or Reverends, whatever they are called, are to preach, council, guide, and support all, but they are not infallible (meaning they can be wrong or they can sin as all humans can).

Actually (though I am sure there are those that will disagree with me) Catholicism is a form of Christianity. A Christian is someone who follows the teachings of the Bible and, more formally, the teachings of Christ.
Since Catholics profess to do that, they are Christian. However, Catholics and Catholicism have their interpretation of the Bible and of Christianity just like Baptists, Methodists, Seventh-day Adventists, Jehovah Witnesses, and others each have their different interpretation of the Bible and of the teachings of Christ. However, they are all Christian religions.

"What separates us as believers in Christ is much less than what unites us." (Pope John XXIII)
Almost all important doctrine is completely agreed upon between Catholic Christians and other Christians.
Here is the joint declaration of justification by Catholics (1999), Lutherans (1999), and Methodists (2006):
By grace alone, in faith in Christ's saving work and not because of any merit on our part, we are accepted by God and receive the Holy Spirit, who renews our hearts while equipping us and calling us to good works.
http://www.vatican.va/roman_curia/pontifical_councils/chrstuni/documents/rc_pc_chrstuni_doc_31101999_cath-luth-joint-declaration_en.html
There are many minor doctrine issues and some major cultural traditional differences which, I believe, do not matter that much.
A Catholic worships and follows Christ in the tradition of Catholicism which, among other things, recognizes that Christ made Peter the leader of His new Church and Pope Benedict XVI is Peter's direct successor.

Catholics do a lot of things we plain old Christians don't.
They pray to Mary.
They pray the rosary.
They have confirmation.
You can't have communion unless you've been confirmed.
They bless animals.
They put flowers, candles, etc. at Mary's statue.
They don't have drums in the church. (lol..but seriously!)
Their leaders (priests) cannot marry.
The follow the Pope. (We believe the Pope is a sinner, like the rest of us.)
They baptize babies.
If someone wants to marry a non-Catholic, the other must convert.
They pray to to saints.
They have an Ash Wednesday ceremony.
Many more, too....but these are just basic.

catholic, or roman catholic (catholic means universal) believe that the pope is standing in for Christ and what he says in matters of the church carry the full weight of, and power of, as if Jesus spoke them.
they use tradition, their teaching and the bible in that order after the rules made by the pope.
Christians believe that the bible is the supreme last and final voice, no other carries that weight of power. They believe that only Jesus can save, and you confess your sins and take your needs directly to Jesus, as the bible teaches.
the catholics teach that you can ask one of the saints that has been canonized by the roman catholic church to intercede for you.
The christian rejects that because the bible says there is one intercessor between God and man, the man Jesus Christ
the catholics reject that anyone outside of the roman catholic church can be saved. The newest pope reiterated this just recently saying, that any church not under the leadership of the Church of Rome is insuffient for salvation (paraphrased).
The bible says, that only in Jesus Christ is there salvation for there is no other name under heaven where by men can be saved.
It is totally possible to be catholic and have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior,
but it is difficult for a christian who walks with Jesus to submit to the doctrine of the church of rome, because so much of it is an afront to the Glory, Majesty, Honor, Purity, Fidelity, Holiness of the LORD Almighty.
I could go on.
i have studied catholic doctrine, as I was dating a catholic for about a year when I realized I could not walk in those churches and feel like I was honoring God.

The Catholic church claims to be the first Christian church but it didn't come into existence until 313 when the Emperor Constantine, seeing the power the gospel had against the pagan beliefs and practices of Rome, and what a change it wrought in the world, legalized Christianity and forced everyone to worship according to the paganized Christianity of Rome.
A Christian follows Jesus Christ.
John 10:1 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.
2 But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.
3 To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.
4 And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.
5 And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.
