Jesus was tortured and killed by the government. Why then to Republican Christians permit torture and the death penalty?

If you are a Catholic you cannot support either due to the Church's dogma. We are taught all life is sacred.

I am appalled to be considered part of the same religion that have people using the Bible to support the death penalty. Eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, can easily be overturned by turn the other cheek.

Or people calling themselves Christians who assault either physically or verbally those seeking abortions or those who work in abortion clinics. Jesus lead by example, not physical or verbal intimidation.

No Christian I know is in favor of torture. As for the death penalty...God says to follow the laws of the land..if the law says a man who molests, and buries alive a little girl, after raping her for days,,,,should get the death penalty, then that is what should happen...if you don't like the law, change it.

Jesus was not killed by anyone...he lay down his life for sinners so they could have eternal life. No one could take his life, unless he wanted them too.

How in the world can you compare Jesus' perfect life and sacrifice to a pedophiling rapist/killer. Jesus' sacrifice was part of God's plan to save us from our sins. So you in no position to question or judge God. He is the only One to judge anyone.

I do not support torture. But the death penalty is a legal part of the justice system in this country. The Bible tells us to honor our leaders and the laws they established, which God gave them power to do. And if you are ok with someone who rapes, sodomizes, and murders your mother, sister, wife, or young daughter, only to be "punished" by being supported by your taxes with free room & board, cable TV, and getting to breath fresh air every day for the next 40-50 years of his life, then perhaps your priorities are slightly screwed up.

Are you suggesting that Judean Republicans were responsible for the crucifixion?

I don't know of any Christians who support torture.

And you don't either.
