right now i have pretty curly hair.
my hair now is about 3-5 inches past my shoulders and has long layers.
i straighten it alot, but it takes forever and always gets wavy later on.
does curly hair look better with shorter or longer length?
what length is easiest to straighten(and stays straight)?
also,
how can i keep my hair straight when i straighten it?

I think curly / wavy hair looks better when it is longer. I have wavy hair and it is SO much easier to deal with when it is long because there is more weight on it. When it's short, it may get poofier. And though it may take a little longer to straighten when your hair is long, it will probably stay better because of the weight, rather then short hair.

Curly hair is harder to manage when it is very long. I think that shoulder length or right above is ideal and easy to take care of. Why keep straightening it? Find a style that looks good with your curls. It will be better for your hair and shiny healthy curly hair looks great.

It would depend on your face shape, too. Just about anyone looks good with long hair. Although, straightening hair is very damaging, and I'd doubt it if you could get it to grow long with all the damage that has been done to it.
Instead of straightening your hair, why not just work with the curls?

If your hair is like spiral curls, then i think shorter. If it's wavy and loose curls, long. You can use the chi straightener, it works really good on curly hair. And it holds.

You should get your hair cut shorter because I have the same type of hair and it makes it soo much easier to Straiten. If you want to know how it will look curly you should have your hairdresser cut it while it is dry and curly.
Like i did you can get layers and side bangs. It looks really good the person cut my hair from my bangs so its like one really long bang (I think that its called a swing bang) and then its layers. And super easy to straiten.

It depends on the tightness of your curls.
Tightcurls - shorter
Loose curls - longer.
I'd say halfway down your back - Nice when straight, nice when curly. :]
