We have been together six years. Will not trust me with his telephone number. He always contacts me but less says he is busy. Never takes me any where just wants to visit me when it suits. Does not like me asking ?

You don't say whether you are male or female.
It all sounds very suspicious and if he won't trust you enough to have access to him on your terms but only on his. You should not be wasting your time.
You have already wasted six years of your life and you are not getting any younger (sorry, but it is the truth). Get rid of him and find someone who cares about YOU!

Six years and only a "clandestine" relationship? I'd say he's either married and always has been, or is otherwise involved...why don't you ask him and make it clear that if you don't get an honest reply, he need not return to visit you.

This sounds very strange to me. I think you should stop seeing him and find someone else. Sound like he is just coming for sex. You need to have someone who take you out for dinner and wherever you want to go. It sound like he is just using you.. Dump him, Life is too short for this treatment.
