Ideally I'd like to hear from someone with an LG telly, but any good information will do.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Some people prefer Panasonic and Samsung Plasma TV.

The Samsung 50" Widescreen can be a good choice too:

Can't speak for this particular TV but in general LG are a good make Used to be Goldstar - I do know several people that have bought Plasma TV's and are regreting it - there is still a lot of hooha about Plasma TV's and loss of picture quality in a short space of time - including gas leaking making the TV basically usless.

LCD TV's tend to have a longer life expectancy

But, I guess it's luck of the draw to be honest - from a personal point of view, I wouldn't get a Plasma for another couple of years or so - technology needs to catch up a bit more -

Of the three peeps I know with Plasmas - all have broken down within the second year and cost to repair is horrendous - take out a reputable extended warranty if you decide to buy.

Most of the people I know have LCD TV's and these have stood up well - no problems.

Do not go for that!! LG has the worst colour contrast and Brightness compared to Samsungs and Sony. If you go to a shop like comet and look at the teles you will see that everything with the colour contrast looks so much better than that LG.

Good luck in choosing but i do not recommend any LG's whatsoever.

Looks nice, but I think you`ll find Currys have a Samsung 50" for the same price but including a home cinema kit. Not sure about a base though

Dont know about that one but we have a samsung 50 inch plasma which is great. Ours has HD, we were looking at the LG tv but were told the samsung was better, ours is a glossy black and looks great, good luck in your choice.

Nice unit, but for the money you could get more bang for the buck elsewhere. Being that I am in the states, I can't really point you to a store, but I can say that my HP 50" Plasma is comparable and it retails for around $1200.00 US. It is same, at 720p.
Keep looking I say!

LCD sets are a much better buy for various technical reasons, including whole life. Plasma has lost the technology race.
