Hi,Bianca, it is never right for anyone belittle the other person, not to speak of the police officers. Even in the course of their duty, if someone does something wrong they may point out to the person concerned courteously, but not in a insulting way.
If you feel the officers is being rude, you may report to the senior officer in-charge.

They have the responsibility to tell you the truth. If the truth hurts your feelings, that is not belittleing you. You just feel like a dope cause the cop pointed out to you just how unwise & possibly dangerous your actions were.
BUT......
They certainly have no right to hurl insults either.

Any circumstances? Of course there are conceivable circumstances where it might serve some useful, legal purpose. But certainly never for the cop's own perverse amusement.

,NO, in fact it should be reported to his Superior, get the badge no. in front of his "friends" and make sure you tell him that it is going to be reported no matter how small it may seem. Its their way of feeling macho...

They do that because they were picked on in school, beat up all the time, lost their lunch money everyday. Now they have some sort of power and they abuse it, that's why you need to carry gay magazines and donuts. When you get pulled over make sure they see both, they usually will be so excited to see them they will take them and leave you alone.

Of course not. They do this because they feel they are 'above
the law'.
