ID thieft is out of hand the Automotive Recycling Business, That's what they like being called these days. Take all the valuable parts E-Bay or sell on there web sites and send the scrap steel and iron to China. Owners hand books personal information just gets thrown out. I know you would like to remember how to reprogram the interior lighting or clock on the old Vauxall, owners manuals are hard to come by.

The DMV doesn't in any way regulate the way wrecker services or scrap yards do their business. I've gone to our local car crusher and found the manuals in most of the glove boxes. If there are things like VIN written in, so what? You can't use it to get any information anyway.

If your local companies are doing this, it sounds like a local decision, not some requirement.

I AM NOT IN THE SALVAGE YARD BUSINESS BUT THAT DOES MAKE GOOD SINCE BECAUSE PEOPLE DO PUT IMPORTANT INFO AS WELL AS PRIVATE INFO IN THESE MANUALS.

THIS THIS AND SEE WHAT THEY SAY...................

CONTACT YOUR LOCAL DMV OFFICE, THEY WILL BE ABLE TO ANSWER ANY AND ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS AND AT THE SAME TIME YOU WILL BE GETTING THE CORRECT ANSWER TO YOUR QUESTION.
