I have had an extremely hard knot on the back of my heel for years. It is solid and has never given me any trouble. I have never had pain from it. I can take my fingers and it has a solid shape to it. I know that there is such a thing as a heel spur. Could that be what it is? It has a definite shape to it. It is about the size of a ball like we used to play jacks with. I have to wear shoes with the back out or a little big but only because of the size of it. I would like some helpful responses. I have received some really nasty responses in the past when I ask questions and all I want is information. Thanks again.

It's very possible. there's nothing you can do about it anyway, except wear more cushioning if it should ever start to hurt.

A bone spur can happen if there is a bruise on the bone, or if something is pulling. heel spur is sometimes when the ligament that runs along the bottom of your foot is too sharp. It pulls on your heel, and the bone builds more, in defense. Sometimes you won't get any pain from the spur, and other times it will hurt to walk on it.

Hi- I am sorry that ppl have answered ur question in a nasty way. This is a legitimate concern. Yes, there are bone spurs, but, normally they are painful. There are bunions that do protrude in the way you mention. Not usually @ the back of the foot, but, anything is possible. Have you consulted a Podiatrist, a foot specialist? This would be the best way to rule out what is going on. This Physician would immediatlely be able to identify what is going on. That would be my suggestion. I hope this is helpful. Try the sites below, also, to see if you can find some useful info from them. Take care and have a good day!
