You're going to get that "free will" argument here.

Indeed, why would he let anybody molest a child? Especially clergy?!?

I believe safety comes before free will. I force my kids to wear a helmet when they ride their bikes, for example.

Yes, there is a God. God did not allow for children to be molested. Parents who molest made the choice to do so, God has nothing to do with it. We were all created with a clear thinking mind. Satan comes to kill, steal, and destroy, so he will also work through people who allows him to do so.

Because God isn't a cop or a nanny or a genie.

I'm going to make the free will argument, which someone here has already attempted to make a pre-emptive strike against. But it's the way things are. Child molesters choose to act on their impulses. Or not.

The notion that safety is more important that free will is one that I find scary. I'd rather be unsafe and free than safe and not free.

He doesn't "allow" it in the sense that he gives permission to do it. God gives all people free will in the hope that we will be good people and do his work. Unfortunately, some people do not do this and instead choose to do horrible things like molest children. God doesn't approve of this, but he doesn't force them to stop because they have a free will; if they are going to stop doing it, they will have to do it on their own when they realize that their actions are wrong.

God doesn't actively allow or ban anything; people control this world - mostly rich, greedy & selfish men, who really couldn't care less about children. That's why a ferw months ago, a UK court reduced a child-rapist's prison sentence to 2 years, because the victim looked "older" than her age of 10.

Doubtless if the same man had trashed a rich-man's car or stolen money from a bank, he'd have got at least 10 yerars.

The concept of "God" once gave us firm ideals to aspire to; the ideal of compassion, forgiveness, kindness, caring & sharing; it's up to people to live-up to those ideals - God isn't a tyrant who'll force us to do things against our will - we were given "free-will".

God is not molesting the children. Sinners, followers of the devil are doing it.
Perhaps you should read the Bible. Even Jesus was crucified. And he said that any others that were also crucified of tortured for him, were closest to him. So those of us that are the closest can in up in pain. Just realize it is NOT God, only those that are evil will do such a thing.

Of course the "free-will" thing comes into play.
I have found it to be that most perpetrators of violence against children, were once victims themselves.
Therefore, in their minds, it is not a choice, just another action that they believe to be ok, somehow.
This is a sickness that creates a vicious cycle....sickening. But i don't believe God has anything to do with it.

This is a great question
God did not make us robots. He has given us the ability to do good or evil. we get to choose.
There are some people that choose to do evil. God has chosen to limit himself and have given us his creations the ability to choose.
After all what would life be if we were dictated by God to do just as her wanted.
Who we are is determined by what we do when no one is looking, or no one will ever find out. That is called our character.
A person of integrity will do what is right even behind closed doors.
This is what I have learned about life
Whatever a person gives his life to will take him over. If a person given one self to sex, then sex will take one over.
In our brains is thousands of neuro, or brain receptors. They love to be stimulated with pleasure. Things like sex, drugs, food, or rock and roll, anything that gives pleasure. When our brain finds pleasure it wants that pleasure repeated again and again and again. Now if a person does not control this desire of the brain, that desire can take a person over.
God wants us to live a life that puts pleasure in the right perspective.
God made sex for good . If a person allows anything pleasurable to take over, then their life can be ruled by their desires. It is not a natural part of live to be or to molest.
The molester has had a problem for a long time, and God had nothing to do with it.
Please take my advise and talk to someone about this. This has the potential to ruin a persons life, or it can become something more than a distant memory of something ugly in the past.
God will be a great help in your life if you can only trust Him.
What the devil means for evil God can turn into Good
Please talk to someone about this soon.
You have the choose to be healthy or to remain a part of this sickness.
Please make the healthy choice and talk with the police and a pastor that can help you turn your hurts into faith in a God that loves and cares about you personally.
God does not create evil. People take things that God had made and pollute them into evil things.
Sex is a wonderful thing in the proper perspective of a marriage. but a fire out of control can hurt people just as sexual desires out of control can hurt people.
I hope this helps,
Tom

I can't answer for god, but why do so many people, think that he can reach down here and put a stop to something. He created us, and he did so with the ability to have choice. I view life as a test, and for him to do as you wish, would be messing with our life test. I absolutely hear you on that situatiion, it is so tragic, as are many, many other things on this earth, just ugly. But those are human doings by sick choice. Loose your faith, then possibly you may fail life's test. Also because god is said to love all his children, even the wrong doers. read footprints. Don't blame god for the ugliness in this world, that is human doing, not his, he gave us all life, and while here on earth, each of us chooses what we do with that life.

I don't have the exact biblical answer, but I know it falls somewhere in line with how "end times" were predicted to be. It's a paradox in itself because it allows sick and sinful people to behave inappropriately and use their religious prophecies as a cloak or excusing explanation. Could explain why so many religious leaders have been caught in disgusting acts of sinful behavior, then blame evil, claim to be saved, and then write a book about "the end is near."

I think religion is beautiful, but not like this.

It's sad we restrict our intelligence to the laws of humans who've been dead for thousands of years.
