Mystical experiences are important becuase they are connections that Man makes with God.

God is always trying to reach out to God. But mankind is not always open to feel God's touch or hear God's voice. That is why God sent His son(one of the reasons anyway) to get our attention and to give an example of how connected God desires to be with us. Jesus spent as much time as He could trying to be alone in communion(prayer) with His Father. He gave us examples of obedience to God, and many many examples of How tender God's love is for us.

Mystical experiences also lift us up out of the mundane and sinful world and give us a hope for heaven.

Mystical experiences are confirmation of what we know about God and the way He works. But truth be i do not like the term mystical used with Christianity for some odd reason. Maybe because it makes the experience seem bogus by the word or sound like a fairy tale. From my understanding of the word mystical it means nether of these things, but a religious experience.
Without knowing or experiencing God for oneself how is one to believe in God. How can God be confirmed. Unfortunately one can believe in God or anything for that matter, but until you experience it you do not know the reality of it. Like tasting chocolate cake. It looks good on the box or in the deli case, but until one taste it one does not know if it is good. God is good, And once experiencing Jesus as Savior and Lord one knows that He is real and all the Bible speaks of Him.

If by mystical, you mean spiritual experiences....
It is my belief that these are "a ha! moments" Like a sudden moment of clarity, concerning spirituality and god consciousness.
There is nothing more powerful then a spiritual experience, and can be used in a testimony for religious promotion.
I am not one of religion, but of spirit.

I hope you find what it is you seek.

People that have them relate them to religion and they claim special knowledge. If it accompanies a true change in behavior and life, those of us that don't have them sometimes take their word for it.

Because otherwise it wouldn't be a religion otherwise. Also, there is no other way to make it seem "real." At least in my opinion...
