Why must the different groups condemn each other because their beliefs are different?
Why can't we all just accept that everyone was brought up differently, and so we all have different values and beliefs, and that nobody's beliefs are wrong because everyone is entitled to their own beliefs? Just like opinions.
People should be more open-minded.

The fact that people are entitled to different beliefs doesn't mean no beliefs are wrong. Logically, since some beliefs contradict others, some people must be wrong. And personally if I were one of those people I'd feel much more 'respected' if someone took the time to point out what they disagree with, rather than just dismissing my beliefs on the basis that I'm entitled to be wrong.

It makes little difference to me what someone believes. It matter how they came to their beliefs. If they accept as evidence what is clearly unreliable (like a Bible), their belief deserves NO respect and needs to be challenged. If someone currently believes the Sun goes around the Earth, they are simply mistaken, and their perspective needs correction. This is exactly what happens in many religious discussions, blatant falsehoods are preached because some book says so.

Michael Vick was brought up in a culture where murdering dogs was accepted. I was raised to believe that black people are all no good criminals. The president of Iran was raised (I'm speculating) to believe that Jews cause all the world's problems and need to be killed. Some religious groups believe woman should be stoned to death for being "unclean". Some Christians were raised to believe abortion is wrong and will kill for their cause. Some atheists believe all Christians should be sent to the moon. Tell me again why all beliefs should be respected?

Greed, jealousy, prejudice and upbringing are all human traits. It is human nature to be afraid of those who are different and whose belief systems are different. Any when you add many lifetimes of misinformation and distrust, well then you have a horrible disaster waiting to happen. I think that some people are trying to break that cycle, but after thousands of years of this and pastors, priests and other religious leaders preaching that their path is the true one and all else are going to hell, is it a wonder there is so much hate in the world???

I try. You cannot generalize. Not ALL religious people are disrespectful, as all atheists are not full of hate for religious people.

I agree with you, and I have often said the same thing. So have others. It falls upon deaf ears.

What is hard for me to understand is that some atheists say that it is payback time for them since Christians thousands of years ago committed atrocities. That's a silly argument. How is it going to help?

On somebody point, I do admire non secular human beings, as long as they're respectful of me. yet right this is the factor. On a societal point, non secular human beings do no longer admire absolutely everyone else. non secular companies decide to get rid of incredibly everyone else's freedom to hold different ideals. We had a president (Bush Sr) who believes atheists are not actual electorate, and should no longer be allowed to vote. non secular companies are destroying coaching, women human beings's wellness, inflicting violence international extensive, and intolerance in the direction of different religions, races, and gays. faith is profoundly risky in society. greater human beings have died interior the call of religion than for the different reason. faith would not admire human beings's human rights or dignity. as a effect, i do no longer admire faith, and that i won't tolerate a society wherein faith is a primary influencing ingredient. needless to say, the Founding Fathers accept as true with me as shown via the separation of church and state. They understood what a violent, divisive device faith would nicely be. faith is attempting to get returned into state. And see you later as that's attempting to try this, I won't tolerate it.

People should be more open minded, but they are not. There's a cathegory of people who think they know the truth (no matter on wich side they are). Since they "know the truth", they see it as their duty to "open the eyes" of other people. In their minds, they are doing a good thing, they are making this world a big favor for sharing "the truth" with others
