If you happened to also have some oil and an egg or 2, you could make some croquettes. Make the rice and add the curry to taste. Cool it so it won't scramble the eggs, and mix in the eggs till you have a nice mooshy mess. Form into balls like meatballs and deep fry. Yummy.
If you also happened to have some white, yellow or green onions, you could add those to the mix too. If you had some bread ends in the freezer (you should always save those instead of throwing them away!) you could make bread crumbs or if you have some corn flakes (unsweetened) or saltine crackers you could use those too. Roll the balls in the crumbs or flakes before you fry. Also adding cheese will boost the protein content. Serving with a legume salad or dipping sauce will create the complete protein you need..
Does this sound like a "stone-soup" recipe or what?

Follow the directions for cooking the rice and add some of the curry powder to the water as the rice is cooking. It will give the rice a great flavor and color.

Absolutely. You can add the curry powder in while you cook the rice, or you can cook the rice first, and make a fried rice dish by stir-frying the rice and adding the curry powder in. If you had a bit of garlic, onion and maybe some peas, that would work, too. :)

Yes. Cook the rice. Add curry powder. It would also help if you had salt and some oil.

You certainly can, I love it. I saute my rice in about 1 Tbsp olive oil with some garlic, ginger, and curry powder for a couple minutes, then add the broth/water, and cook as usual. Towards the end of the cooking time I also like to toss in some frozen peas, baby shrimp, chopped green onions and cilantro. It's one of my favorite dishes.
