Actually it's about false religion. Those who are blind spiritually are not saved and cannot spiritually see or hear truth.

Psalms 135:15-18 The idols of the heathen [are] silver and gold, the work of men's hands. They have mouths, but they speak not; eyes have they, but they see not; They have ears, but they hear not; neither is there [any] breath in their mouths. They that make them are like unto them: [so is] every one that trusteth in them.

Those who don't understand the truth of the Bible but try to teach it are the blind leading the blind. Those who think they have truth but really don't are blind but they are also leading other spiritually blind people by giving them a false gospel.

Proverbs 14:5 A faithful witness will not lie: but a false witness will utter lies.

Matthew 15:14 Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

A good picture of this would be an unsaved pastor that still preaches to a congregation of unbelievers that don't realize they're listening to an unsaved person preach.

Jeremiah 23:1-2 Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD. Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD.

2 Thessalonians 2:11-12 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

yes, very much like Saul before he became Paul. He really thought he was doing what he did for the glory of God but as we know when he was Baptized "Things like scales fell from his eyes". I always think it is interesting when you think about what has scales other than fish---snakes!. The ancient Evil One had wrapped around his vision.

Yes, and also the false teachers spoken of. They preach a warm, fuzzy gospel, in contradiction to Jesus' words that all those who seek to follow Him must pick up their cross; and those that endure to the end will be saved.
