Hi, our cat is 7 months old. Usualy he's constantly hungry, whenever we go to the kitchen he'l beg for food even if hes just been fed a whole pouch of whiskers kitten food & some dry biscuit IAMS. Yesturday evening i put deworming powder into his food as he hasnt been properly wormed yet because we found him as a stray kitten 2/3 months ago (dw hes been to the vet & had his injections nd health checks which he passed). I mixed it into his food and he ate a little and left the rest. He left the food all night so i changed his food & washed the bowl this morning, thinking he must taste the dewormer & thats putting him off but he still wont touch the new food. He ate a meat kitten treat so he's still hungry & whenever we go to the kitchen he begs for food so I dont think hes gone off food completly. A couple days back he had the runs but hes fine now & is acting perfectly normal. Its now been a day so im starting to get worried, any ideas?

Be very careful and watch your kitty.....if cats stop eating suddenly - it may not be the food. Cats will often stop eating if they are sick (i.e. Urinary tract infection, blockage, stomach ache). Watch her carefully, is she acting normal other than just not eating? Has she used the litter box? Now if everything else is normal - try and pick some of the new colored pieces out of the food and see if that helps. If not, I've been there and done that trying to switch my cats food before they are "ready". They are stubborn little creatures and will make themselves sick before they change their food! One way I have been successful is putting their regular food in the bowl and using the new food as "treats" until time to fully intergrate it in. Now if she still won't eat for another day or so. Take her to the vet, cats can get very ill by not eating and not using the litterbox. Hope this helps and please don't give a cat milk (cow's) they don't have the ability to digest it and its not good for them....

1) wash the bowl AGAIN... with soapy clorox water
2) try some cooked or canned chicken
3) or try a little canned tuna

Read the worming medicine bottle. It may say it puts them off food for a few days. You don't know until you read the bottle.

If he's active and playing... he should be ok...

If youre cat isnt eating, but only the food that has the wormer in it, chances are he can smell or taste the wormer. Try using a wormer that is a chewable treat that supposedly tastes like beef or chicken. That is what I have to use for my cats. They all know when I try and put something in their food. Good luck! I would suggest taking him to an animal doctor he may get even worse if not giving treatment before hand like my cat.

Give him some boiled chicken, cats love that, if he doesn't eat it then take him to the vet.
