This is a serious question. Why do monotheists always conceive of their gods as perfect? Why not just pretty impressive?

I don't buy it. Those of you who think creation is perfect: what do you base that on? I can easily imagine it better.

And regardless of the perfection or non-perfection of the universe, you wouldn't have to be perfect to create it.

Put another way: just because something exists that we find very impressive and couldn't make ourselves doesn't mean that it was created by a perfect being. That just doesn't follow.

Look at the Perfect Universe and the greatest of all 'the creations' the S P A C E . The scientists say that we only know the 4% of it , and that is called the matter. The 96% speaks of a Perfect Creator. There is no substitute to the word 'perfect'.

God is perfect because if he wasn't he would be comparable to his creation. Everything that god has created has a flaw. God does not and cannot exist within his own creation because it doesn't match his majesty. If god was just 'pretty impressive' and concievable you could minus and add things to his characteristics along the way. But if you say "God is most perfect - nothing compares to god". What else can there be done?

God is perfect! Because we humans won't be His best creation if He wasn't. If He wasn't perfect there would be always chaos. Because He is perfect, there is always order in the Heavens.

He is perfect because He created us all. He is our beginning and our end. The alpha and omega. I dare not question my creator, that's why He is perfect for me.

Because God defines what is perfect, and what is not.

If it is a question of believing your opinion of what is perfect, and then comparing it to His opinion, who do you think I'll go with? ;)

If HE isn't perfect, then by definition HE isn't GOD and why believe in an imperfect diety?!?

"Be ye perfect even as your Father in heaven is perfect."

Plus if we don't believe HE is perfect, then we don't accept HIS word as truth.

All kinds of problems with your question, sorry.

I can get imperfect anywhere.
If He is going to be my God, He better be perfect.
