Kittens do hiccup, just like we do!

If he is eating and gaining weight, I don't think you have anything to worry about. Just sounds like he eats too fast.

Is momma cat feeding them or are you? You say momma cat is sick and taking antibiotics. If you are feeding them kitten milk from a bottle, only feed him a little at a time--make him rest for about a minute--then give him the bottle back.

Also, check with your humane society or any rescue agencies where you live. Many have funds to help people in emergencies. Sounds like you would qualify.

Purrs to you and kittens.

If the mum was sick, perhaps the kitten is sick too. I think since you are a good client at the vet, he will have no problem to advise you over the phone or even have a look at both kittens for the price of one visit. Just don't give any medication off your head, you must follow vet instructions.

I can think of 2 to 4 possible options...
1) chat with a vet at an online vet chat site
2) call local pet stores to find someone who's bred cats before and ask them to mentor you
3) look for a cat group with people who breed their cats at yahoo groups
4) call the local rescue and ask them to mentor you and guide you
... or you can turn the kitten over to them... but then you lose it permanently...

Since finances are so tight, as soon as you can, find a spay/neuter clinic and get her spayed. The clinics are run by Humane Office of your county usually... to encourage people to spay and neuter by doing it low cost. Doing that would get you less problems in the future and would make the cat's health better. If you can't afford medical care for the kitten, then you really should NOT have allowed the cat to breed. The only sure way to make sure she doesn't breed is to have her spayed... it's good for her health, too.

There are a lot of vets that are willing to work with you regarding money. Payment plans. I would call around and see what they can do for you. Sounds like your kitten might have really big issues. Now you need to think on what you want for this kitten.. are you planning on keeping it? Or are you willing to dump a few 100 bucks on it to see IF anyone can figure out what is wrong with it. Its something to think about. Yes, its sad, but I have seen people go in debt over animals. Think about it....

sometimes a vet may help out free of charge. talk to your vet and maybe with all you have been through he may help this kitten for free. if not call your local human department and tell them your situation, they may have some answers for you.

Good luck.

if you have no money for a vet, there's nothing you can do. leave up in the air and whatever is meant to be will be. let nature take care of it. just continue to feed kitty well and make sure he gets fresh water and lots of love.
