My ministry, which helps people coming out of cults find recovery, is currently called "Soundness of Mind". Most of the people who come in are ex-Jehovah's Witnesses, although there are a few others as well. I was thinking about changing the name to something that better reflects the direction the ministry has grown. I have two ideas and wanted to see how many votes come in for each option.

Should it be "Theocratic Warfare Ministries", which reflects the Watch Tower doctrine regarding lying to the enemy being okay? Or,

Should it be "New Light" Ministries, which reflects their doctrine that attempts to cover up for mistakes and doctrinal changes?

I can't decide between the two because both reflect what the ministry does, from the opposite perspective: We are in a theocratic warfare on God's side, when we fight for His truth. And, the correct Gospel message is the new light that people find when they escape cults.

What does everyone else think? Or additional options?

Thanx, everyone so far. Alot of good responses. Nina, I was thinking "True Light" myself, but someone here raised a good point about Lucifer=Light Bearer, so, now I'm thinking . . . .ew. lol

Pedi, I liked "Simple Truth" alot. But then I remembered a popular religious magazine a few years back called "Plain Truth" and that I took issue with a lot of what they said.

Ok, so, now I'm seriously looking at Mairzy's "Freedom Ministries". HMMM. I really like that. . .

Keep 'em coming. The more the merrier. And thanks very much to those who've responded so far! There are alot of good possibilities here, beside the ones I've mentioned here.

Ok, I'm thinking of combining Marizy's "Freedom Ministries" with the fact that my logo is a lighthouse. I like the idea of a lighthouse with Jesus' words of being the "light of the world", without using the word light because Lucifer means "light bearer". So which sounds better: "Beacon of Freedom Ministries" or Freedom Beacon Ministries"? Still open to other ideas as well.

'Theocratic' would most likely not be understood by most anyone.......it is sort of an 'old-fashioned' and 'religious' word.

'New Light' sounds good to me. Or, how about 'FREEDOM MINISTRIES'

Neither. Theocratic is a term used by Jehovah's Witnesses and might give the impression it was linked to the Watch Tower Society. New Light is too subtle - you and I may know how they use this expression to cover up changes in belief, but others might think it's a bit "New Age"?

How about True Gospel Ministries? After all, the one thing that stands out with JW's is that they are preaching a different gospel. Hope that helps.

I will pray for your ministry.

I like "Theocratic Warfare Ministries" but I guess I would like it to hint to theology warfare.

And I do not like the new light, because we need to get back to the old original light rather than get any new light that this world is offering. I guess "Original light" or something like " The first light" or "True light" would be better. Just my opinion.

" Light to Freedom " or " Truth Way " or " Truth is the target " or " Truth Finders " or " From darkness to Light " or " Light in the darkness " or " Truth matters to God", "The Light of Life Ministries", "Truth Promise Ministries", "Stay in the true Light"

I like also the suggestion of " True Gospel Ministries" or "Jesus' Gospel Ministries", " Doctrinal Purity Ministreis"

I like the way you are going. I will pray about it.

I too like "soundness of mind" but for what you are exactly doing has to do with doctrine not "sanity" as may be seen at a glance.

I really love the current name.

New Light--smacks of JW false doctrine of "new light" from their false prophet organization--WT--also lucifer was known as the lightbearer.

Theocratic Warfare?

Yikes. Sounds like an intellectual palace, far removed from the earthly needs of the broken.

Your current name is appropriate and reflects the true gospel found in the New Testament--

Soundness of Mind

Beautiful.

Probably because "War Office" sounds like something you only need when there's a war on, whereas modern military capacity requires a lot of keeping up between wars. In the U.S., it changed from the Department of War to the Department of Defense. (Actually, I see by Wikipedia that technically the old War Department became the separate Departments of the Army and of the Air Force and were combined with the separate Department of the Navy into the National Military Establishment (NME) in 1947. The NME became the Department of Defense in 1949.)
