I am getting into photography and I have heard that Adobe is the best program, but I want to know for sure before going out and buying it. Would like to be able to do air brushing, thinning, tan, etc.

Adobe Photoshop CS3 is excellent of course. However, there are also some other excellent softwares at a fraction of the cost. Corel Paint Shop Pro Photo is an excellent program, also Ulead PhotoImpact. I use these two as much as I use my Photoshop. I would reccommend them before spending the money for Photoshop.

You could start with Photoshop Elements for $99 and that may be all that you need. You could also buy an older version of Photoshop on eBay and save money.
If you want a new version of the full program, check out the bundle prices as it's often not much more to get some other Adobe software included. You can download a trial version from Adobe and see if it fits your needs.

Adobe Photoshop is a definite must. It's easy to use, and even if you don't know how to use it there's always a manual that comes along with it and loads of online help. Remember, you can always fall back on Y/A! haha!

Absolutely Adobe PhotoShop.

It's an expensive purchase, but you'll be dazzled with the program's capabilities.

Unless you are a software pirate, expect to pay $649.00 for the software. It's $199.00 if you are upgrading from a prior version. GIMP is a freeware equivalent that can get you started with image manipulation.
