There are many companies that provide free web hosting including Yahoo Geocities. Problem with all of the is that they put ads on your site. Someone has to pay if it is not you. There are also a lot of low cost providers which will work fine if you are not expecting an overwhelming amount of traffic. I have a website that costs me $3 per month for way more bandwidth than I need.

You may not want to go for free hosting which are usually poor in quality. Consider paid ones.
There are quite a few good reliable webhosting like yahoo, hostmonster, ixhost, bluehost and ipower etc... They got their own strength like webspace, bandwidth etc...
