Why is God so obsessed with circumcision?

I mean, if he didn't want the foreskin, why create it in the first place?

"Mattathias and his friends went about and tore down the pagan altars; they also enforced circumcision for any uncircumcised boys whom they found in the territory of Israel." (1 Maccabees 2:42-48 NAB)

It's more satisfying for women [research shows that circumcised males are better in bed]; it's more hygienic; and the latest scientific evidence also shows that it's better for halting the AIDS epidemic.

If God was obsessed with it why does He say, 1 Cor 7:19 "Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but what matters is the keeping of the commandments of God."

I mean, why do you bother signing your name on a contract, or expect others to sign THEIR name if there is a requirement to pay?

Circumcision, in the old testament, was the sign of a male child belonging to the family of GOD Almighty His chosen people Israel. It also symbolizes the shedding of blood that is required to separate a people for the purposes of GOD.

The Jewish Mohel's who traditionally take the foreskin away in their vile mouths have been known to pass on herpes to little boy babies...I think the whole religious mutilation of genitals thing is just completely weird personally, take away the religion and you just have plain old genital mutilation of babies by nasty groups of old men.

Good point. Why would any God to have bodies mutilated to prove their belief? Why there? Why not cut off an ear or something? Wouldn't that be just as silly?

Circumcision was commanded in the O.T. now it is only done because of cleaness and not commanded to us.
