I mean like we are getting transplant with human made organs - is there something similar with blood?

Yes, there is an artificial blood substitute called polyheme, that is commercially available. In Denver a few years ago, if you were in an urgent care situation, you would be given the blood substitute instead of real blood. This was an experiment that the city had participated in to see if there was any change in life expectancy of the injured party after the transfusion.

I didn't like the idea because it didn't give the recipient the opportunity to make a knowledgeable decision whether they wanted to be part of an "experimental" test or not.

yes there are articifcal blood it was produced many years ago it is a substance that is even better than blood! it cares more oxygen than normal if needed and you don't need much of it to stay alive! If you wnat to know more POPULAR SCIENCE did an aritcle on it.

Put Dr. Leland Clark on your search engine. He demonstrated that mice could use oxygen containing fluorocarbons. Unfortunately, carrying off carbon dioxide was a problem.

not yet, but we do have blood tranfusion or what ever you call it, by donating blood and stuff..
