Have you ever heard of Sati? That's the tradition of forcing the wife of a deceased man to climb on to the funeral pyre with him.

Although, yeah, it's rare today. Generally speaking, I don't think Hinduism is nearly as "sexist" or misogynistic and patriarchal as the "Abrahamic" religions, especially Islam.

Many social customs are misunderstood as Religious Practises.Legitimate/Legal sexual relationship is encouraged in Hindu Religion,through the Institution of Religious Marriages..Sati, a social practice,in some states of India has no Religious sanction-it has been stopped ,thanks to sri.Rajaram Mohan Rai--widow marriages have been encouraged ,thanks to Mahatma Phule---Child marriages have been legally stopped ,thanks to sri.Sharadha's resolution in Indian Parliament,almost 70 years before--occasional ,freaks do happen--women were not very kindly treated in the so called advanced nations also.In "Scindler's List"(Steilberg), everybody saw how the modesty of Jewish women was treated in a part of Modern Europe..

i dont understand what you mean.sex is important part of life as per hindus.we dont think its bad like many religions teach.and jonjon v2.0 was saying abut sati.it is banned 150 yrs ago.some stray incidents do happen in states of rajastan but women are treated with more dignity in most parts of contry
