The popular video game, "Halo Nights" is being used by Protestant churches to lure young people into attending services. Halo III is a popular video game, with sales reaching $300,000 and features bloody war, violent and brutal. Ministers rationalize this by saying they have to use any means necessary to lure young boys into attending services. The question is...if "Thou Shalt Not Kill" can be ignored, can other means at their disposal...Porn movies or Snuff films, for instance, be as effective? Should churches forget the instructions of Christ to lure young people into attending? How can churches teach morality and integrity if they stoop to such behavior? Has religion become synonymous with sin?

They shouldn't have Halo Nights, unless they mean the kind of halos pictured in religious paintings.
Neither should they have Porn nights.
If you have to party/entertain to get someone to attend your church services, you will have to continue to party/entertain to keep them coming to the services.
Why not just teach the Bible? If a church is adding in all these fancy trappings, they are not concentrating on what should be the real reason to be there.

OUCH! I have to agree. I had not heard of such a thing and I find it, well, disgusting. If churches want to entice young people into attending church or other church-related activities, I think they should find other ways. If I were a member of such a church, I think I might have more than just a few words with my minister. If the activity continued, I would have to move my membership elsewhere!

Paid clergy need to keep the money coming in even if they are hurting their church members. This is not an indictment of all religions or even of all paid clergy. It is simply structural conflict of interest that exists in many churches. Some preachers are good at resisting the temptation. I am condemning the end justifies the means approach but I do not agree that there is parity between pornography and video game violence. While both are destructive, pornography is far far more destructive.

Isn't the bigger question, then what kind of a 'religion' has to stoop to such behavior to lure in members?
No other world religion would do such a thing.
Only a desperate cult would.
So there you have it.

Plan the porn night.

That's a very good point. I personally think that "yes" Porn Videos would be an interesting way of luring Teenagers into church.

The church will go to any means to spread thier falsities and dichotomy to the youth. The youth of this country are growing more intelligent and seeing the church for what it really is a brain washing money machine. THe church will stop at nothing to bring in more children therefore bringing in more money. I can't beleive this surprises anyone. IF you think the church's main goal is to educate and enlighten then you need to be enlightened to the opposite fact..

Ah, but religion has ignored that "Thou shalt not kill" thing for, well, pretty much since it was invented.

And yes, religion and sin have always been synonymous. They invented it.

Your argument is valid. Porn movies should be allowed just like violence. Sadly, our society turns a blind eye toward violence and sometimes glorifies violence.
