just like genesis 1 and genesis 2 are so different. I found the book of job so different. it starts with a tempo of fairy tale. "there was a man named job who lived in the land of Uz." there is no genealogy. the entire arguments between job and three friends are like job against satan. is this book figurative? what does job represent? what do those three friends symbolize?

I myself like the story of Job. It really doesn't matter if it is a parable or a true story. It is a good possible answer to the question "Why does God let bad things happen to good people?"

Job could be any of us.

His tree friends could be any one that would tell a person who believes in God "What has God done for you? You are waisting your time worshiping him!" - If you don't think people do this, read some of the responses and questions from the Atheist on R&S.

non secular books are canonizations of particularly some texts, arranged by skill of religious scholars, courts, or different government over the years. For Jews, the order is this: First the Torah (T in Tanakh) grew to become into assembled from a chain of historic scriptures. Then, the prophets (Neviim is N in Tanakh) grew to become into assembled from particularly some sources (Isaiah, Jeremiah, Daniel, etc.). finally, a compendium of scholarly diagnosis grew to become into printed. (Ketuvim, ok in Tanakh, skill writing in Hebrew) The order of the books logically follows the history of the Jewish people and the evolution of their non secular theory. Christianity emerged as a faith after the Torah & Neviim have been printed. Christian scholars secure those of their Bibles, and further the Gospels (New testomony). In all situations, the order and interpretation of the text cloth is sensible to assist the commonly happening message of the religion. Even on the instant, minor ameliorations to those information are common. however, any replace commonly ends up in a schism in the non secular stream, ensuing in a sparkling sect.

It is a real account. All the details about Satan and God are to be taken literally.

The book of Job is one of the most important books in the entire Biblical canon if you are a believer.

Why? Because only in this one location are Christians and ancient believers, the Jews, told why all believers must suffer and be tested.

This book tells us what is going on in the heavenly court. Here together with the question of sovereignty that Adam raised in Eden, two more questions are raised for all to see.

1. can any believer lose all his belongings and still hold onto his faith?
2. can any believer lose all his belongings, children, family and his life and still love God and hold onto his faith?

These are the questions that Satan raised and stated that no human could do.

This is why Christians have the privilege to suffer for Christ.
