Who says he's such a bad example, except perhaps those who themselves are bad examples? To what do they compare him, scripture or culture, their own views or God's?

Religion is not a system of faith.........it is a superstition! It was invented at a time of the primitive man and it was used by them to explain things they didn't understand (got to blame someone/something for what's happening) Soon after the invention of 'gods' it was noticed by the more powerful of society that if they used these superstitions correctly they could control the society in which they lived..........and thus began 'organized religion' a means to control others and profiting from the fears you instilled in the society through the preaching of the supernatural.
Christianity, is just one such religion that came through this evolution and those that have achieved a high standing within the religion are always looking for more and more power. They don't really care that George Bush is not what many call a 'good Christian' they care that through supporting him they will have a say in the way the USA is run and because he is a weak person and a believer in Christianity they assume a sort of control over the way he runs the country. There by giving the Christians more and more power.

Have you looked around the world lately? Have you seen any government run by ANY religion that is 'good government'?

There isn't one, if you base a government on the beliefs of an organization that holds, that there is a power above nature than you have a government based on fairy tales ---- you want that?
hope not!

I'm not American but I get a sense that the Democrats were going to make getting abortions easier and so on - and abortion is a big issue. I don't think the genuine christian voters voted for any aggressive agenda in Foreign Policy - that is not christian. Politicians often just behave according to 'Power Politics'. The 911 attack was probably calculated to humiliate US and so likely lead to a violent response which would give the extremists plausibility in their own and muslims' view. The US government had to make a response of some sort though; what they did seems very counter-productive as well as causing suffering for average people not involved. But what a 'godly response' would have been, and whether it would have been possible to sell to the American public I do not know.

Your right---President Bush is a woeful example of a Christian---any leader who says that God told him to invade a foreign country is an absolute disgrace to Christianity--the fact that some extremely right winged Christians still support him shows how gullible & non-Christian they are as well!!

i've never thought of bush as a bad example of a Christian...i've never actually thought of him as a Christian at all! i find him a bad example of a president...
as for his supporters among the evangelical right? he's a republican...they basically own the party, and the party owns them...it has as much to do with 2 issues as anything else-abortion and homosexuality

Actually he's a bad example of a conservative...he's a normal example of a Christian.

Christian groups are about anti-abortion, and anti-gay marriage.

That's why they support Bush.

(And I am a Christian conservative who is luke-warm on Bush)

Because he's pro-life on abortion. For some (but not all) Christians and Christian groups, that's the only issue that matters.

Because they themselves are bad Christians. More examples of the American Taliban.
