from even looking at any theories of evoloution.

If Darwin is not just a theory , then Christians have a lot more to loose, they loose their reason to live and die - Is it simply too personal for them to consider objectively. I doubt that many would even dare to examine M-theory at all, it is far easier to stay at the edge of the pond and poke fun at Darwin, than to jump in and examine the real depths. But if you consider Darwin with any objectivity, then you are breaking you own created rule of gambling?

Femme, this is not a question about going to hell, but you not being able to even question your faith, because faith has so much stacked up on belief, that if you question it, you feel that you have too much to loose. its not a win loose situation, but a loose loose situation for you! You have far too much invested in creationism to gamble it on facts!

Old Know all, so you admit that the first chapter of the Bible may be a fictional story, and not fact, how much more is just a story then, where does the fiction end, and the facts begin?

They do say that the devil is in the details lol detailgirl, so you are happy not to use your 'god given' tools to examine his wonder in any detail, but just accept what is read in a single book? Is that not 'narrow' minded?

Humbert, I does not tae away a theiests will to live, but rather the comfort of death, and they will have fear instead of comfort. It depends if you have the courage to live your life in full knowlege that it is not a dress rehearsal, or to live your life for a promised reward, and in fear of constantly loosing it. The closer you get to death, the more you stand to loose, in the faith system.

They may not admit it, David, but you hit the nail on the head.
They rather just pick at something that in the end really doesn't challenge their beliefs. Now, it's fair to say that they probably don't know of M-theory since it's so new, but, I suspect, that even after it has been well established the Christians we still keep their distance.

They choose their battles wisely. They only go after things where they suspect they cannot loose and can only win. This is why they go after evolution. If they prove it wrong, they've succeeded. But, even if they don't prove it wrong (which they probably never will) they still get to hold on to their God. They will just say "God created evolution...".

M-theory is different. It's a true challenge and what it proposes the Christians can not dare to fathom. Like you said; it's their beliefs that are at risk. This theory could potentially take away their will to live...

No Sorry thats not true at all. I am a Christian and I did research Darwins Theory, and I also researched Michael Cohen's, now theres one you should look at. And I do believe that I also read somewhere that Darwin lying on his death bed accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Saviour. Okay, Darwins theory does not have anything to do with Gambling, WHERE did you get this Junk, its really making you look , Well you know, alot less intelligent then everyone else on here! Oh and while you are at it you might want to read the Holy Bible, It will explain the definition of Gambling to you.

No. Darwin was mainly about adaptation anyway. And, if God made the world why would He use a 'magic wand' approach rather than the living system He created to develop things? Intelligent Design is the latest thing, but they do not name the intelligence....
The point for me is that drastically changing my ways in trying to follow the teachings of Jesus has resulted in a happier and more rewarding life. People seem to miss the fact that this reward is definitely there for the taking, never mind anything else.

Are you addressing any particular Christians? Darwin was a Christian. His studies relied heavily on those of Mendel, who was a monk. Just because the UK's leading evolutionist happens to be the high pope of atheism in his spare time doesn't mean all Christians take Chapter 1 of Genesis as historical fact. In fact the overall majority of the world's 2 billion Christians are quite open to the idea of evolution and wish the Creationists would shut up.

In 200 years' time (assuming we haven't wiped ourselves out by then) we'll have new theories based on new research and Darwin and Dawkins will be looked upon as primitive naivete.

Evolution is a theory. Theories seem to be accepted at times as fact by the scientific community even when referred to as a "theory". I am comfortable examining evolution, but I believe that God created everything in existence. Evolution raises some interesting questions especially pertaining to time, but I still hold to my religious beliefs. Consideration of evolution is not going to challenge my faith, but I choose to respect others who are unable to consider evolution without feeling that their faith is undermined. I find that I don't have or need to know the answers to every question raised, so I don't have a personal stumbling block with this specific issue.

I think you can believe in both, as long as you don't follow the bible word for word. It's possible to believe that God gave us our building blocks to observe how we'd develop.

If there is a higher being out there, I think he/she would be more likely to accept a decent, intelligent and kind person than a person who condemns and preaches.

Maybe the bible is his way of testing people? Maybe it's Gods way of keeping track of the narrow-minded.

You can't make a Pascal's wager out of evolution, pointless effort. Their faith is often generally a paradoxical failsafe against the possibility of a horrible eternity.

why do you assume that Christians haven't looked at darwin's theories? and what do darwin's theories have to do with my soul? it's been a long time since i read 'the origin of the species', but i do not recall any reference to souls...maybe i missed that part? anyway, the 'connection' sounds rather silly to me

I rather take my chance on Jesus Christ. Place your bet on Darwin and if you lose, you go straight to Hell. If Darwin is right, I have nothing to lose. Sounds logical?
After all Christianity life ain't bad, infact it is a joy.At least I have hope.

Jesus Christ died for all my sins. How can i go to hell?

I dont mean just go and do as you like, but ultimately, as long as you know what you did was wrong, and are sorry you did it, God will love you nonetheless
