(which compared to erturnity is like a blink of an eye) why would i worship a god that gives people a small chance to succeed and stands by while more than half his creation burn in aggony? and you will say god gave us all a choice. so tell me where was our choice when god decided that he was lonly and would make a whole new species (human) and even new before hand that more than half of them would be tortured for eternity? its my opion that all relgion is rediclious. my grandfather just passed away and my grandmother doesnt know if he was saved or not.

The bible agrees with you. It says the path to righteousness is narrow and the path to destruction if broad.

You seem really, really angry and upset and I don't know what to say to make you feel better. It is of course your choice to believe that God created us, and he knew we would all burn in agony.
But does that belief make you happy?
Perhaps you should look at your life and decide what you are most unhappy with and why, and then think about what you can do to change that part of your life.
I am of the opinion that life goes on, and when you die, you are put back on earth in a different form, a form that reflects upon your previous life. If you are a good person (not necessarily very religious) that you will be given what you deserve, and the same if you are an evil person. Which seems fair enough to me. I hope that is the way it works. Who will ever know?
I try not to worry about it too much, because however it works, I can't change it. I just try to live a good life and just doing that makes me happy.

ISF
many man myths have grown over the eons, most of the myths have to do with hate and punishment and control.

Hell fire/burning forever is scare tactics to control people's behavior and vest power in the religious leaders. The God I worship is one of love. the "hell" that many speak of so expertly is separation from God. You are, from your posts, an intelligent, passionate person. Is it even close to logical that a loving God would torment any for all eternity? I am sorry for the loss of your grandfather. I still miss mine! Try to assure your grandmother that he is no way "burning in hell"! He is not!

If you do not care what happens when you die, then wouldn't you want to make the most of your life as it is all you expect to experience?

God knew that His creations would fall away from Him due to sin. He still gave us the opportunity to choose to love Him. If we had no choice in the matter, how could we call it love? For Christians, there is no greater tragedy than the death of an unbeliever. For those who mourn, there is tremendous comfort in knowing that a believer is no longer required to endure the trials and difficulties of life. The question of salvation for a loved one who has passed is agony which sounds like your grandma's situation.

God gave us "eternal life" and no one knows until after they die if they will feel the absolute pain of the burning in hell, but if you don't believe and have faith in any God, then when you die and enter the 2nd phase of your life, maybe you can let us know how you liked the fires of Hell. The following quote was taken from Martin's Free Christian Website - Jesus Saves:

It does not mean that when you die in body flesh you will go immediately to heaven. No No, my friend.. When you die, you will be burtried and you will come to know nothing. Everything that is within you will be left escept your sould who will go temporarily under the care of God.

At the time of judgement, all of us be given life to face judgement and that is the time that you will go to heaven to live forever with God in the paradise of heaven with God (if you were not a sinner at the time of your being alive on earth), but if you are a sinner and your sins have not been forgiven, you will be burn to the lake of fire in Hell and you will not be given eternal life.

Yes it matters how you live your life! and this is coming from an atheist!

Your grandfather certainly won't feel pain or be upset ever again and sometimes I think that's enough to be grateful for in an after-'life'. I mean we don't have souls so I don't understand people asking where we go - in the ground is the normal answer.

Oh and you must be American - why do you say 'could care less' that means you care a bit, surely you mean 'couldn't care less'...

Eternal torment is a fabrication of the minds of men that never came up into God's heart.

How passionate! Out of your many questions would you have rather not have been created? Or would you have rather been created without freedom of choice? So you're here and you have been created with freedom of choice and evey second you live is His Grace and an opportunity to turn to Him. Man was created to worship God, but has a choice.
