I'm sure every state has it's own laws (I'm in Arizona by the way), but what are the general laws about this? Someone keeps parking in front of my house and they block in some of my roomates and also park right in front of our trash cans so they can't be picked up. It's really frustrating. Can I call the police about this or should I just poliet write a note and place it on their car? Thanks!

If they are blocking the driveway or the garbage pickup they can be ticketed in Arizona. I live in AZ as well.

You say they are blocking in your roommate cars. Does that mean he is parking in front of your driveway ? If that is the case that is illegal. If your roommates are driving up over the curb to park then it's not. I would leave a note and if he doesn't stop then call. My state ( Iowa ) doesn't allow you to park across someones driveway. Even your own. Also requires a distance from end of driveway. 4 or 6 feet maybe can't remember right now. Good luck.

If there are no parking restrictions posted, they can park on your street, in front of your house. They can not block your driveway. As far as putting the trash out on your curb....I have that same situation in front of my house. Can't do anything about it because it's legal to park on the street. There are no postings prohibiting parking. Sanitation just has to work a little harder by walking around those parked cars to collect the trash. It's a pain in their tails & it slows them down but, they chose that line of work. No one forced them into it.

I'd definitely write a polite note, it might just be an oversight on their part.

But I'd also put my cans right in the street, next to the curb. In our neighborhood, that is the common practice anyway.

If it is a public steet where parking is allowed, there is nothing you can do.

Release the air from their tires in the middle of the night. They won't come anymore.
