In our town we have a special needs school that was a bit run down. A group of local mormons have spent the last 2 weeks building playgrounds and planting trees. As a devout athiest I would like to say thanks to the mormons for this kind gesture.

This is great to hear!

For the past few years, in my city, they have a clean-up day. They pick a run down neighborhood and with donated supplies we paint the exterior of homes, clean up the yard, etc.... It's hard work, fun and very messy (especially when you paint yourself).

The Mormons are ALWAYS the biggest group of volunteers.

Service is a huge part of the LDS Church. Our youth groups regularly do service for others.

Thank you for Sharing this experience with us. It is nice to hear something nice said about us.

Thank you!

BTW- It's Never too late to accept the Savior into your life.

Thank you! We are all neighbors. It may or may not be the religon that drives people to good deeds. But we like many other religons believe in good christian service.

but must you believe in everything religion says in order to live life in a certain manner?

May be this might bring you to know that Jesus is love. This is a true story what happened to me.I went in my room and said Jesus I am a sinner.Jesus I believe You died on the cross for my sins. Please Forgive my sins Jesus.Come into my heart Jesus. and Bam Jesus filled me with so much peace and love I could hardly stand it.And Jesus put it in my heart that I would live forever with Him.I follow Jesus.

I think when people seperate themeselves by religion it leads to stereotypes and vulnerabilities. It would be much easier just to leave religion out of it, and treat them as everyone else eg. "I would like to thank the group of people who recently helped out at the local school".

Besides, the last group of mormons I met spat at me because I didn't attend church (I am an atheist). I spat back. :D
